DFS Stacks: Week 13 Winners

joe-mixon-bengals-dfs-stacks

DFS stacks are necessary when building a slate-winning DFS lineup.  Every NFL DFS main slate for the remainder of the season is going to be absolutely loaded with strong plays across the salary spectrum. If you are building lineups for tournaments, GPPs, or large contests, it is absolutely imperative that you practice the art of stacking. Whether it’s a game stack or pure team stack, having multiple pieces of the most fantasy-friendly games on the slate is the way to separate you from the pack and push your roster to the top. Here are my favorite stacks to target this week in DFS Stacks: Week 13 Winners.

With that in mind, here are some of the top stacks for the Week 13 main slate on DraftKings and FanDuel.  I will also throw in a contrarian option for each stack in case these plays prove to be too chalky. So fire up the Soulja Boy, because we’re about to dive into some stacks on stacks on stacks.

Chargers-Bengals Stacks

Joe Mixon + Austin Ekeler

It took until late in the fourth quarter, but Justin Herbert finally got there last game, throwing for over 300 yards, two touchdowns, and rushing for another 36 yards. It always is an adventure with Herbert, as he has four games with less than 225 yards passing and five games with more than 330 yards – and very little in between.  Herbert faces another tough test this week against the Bengals, who allow the seventh-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks and eighth-fewest points to wide receivers.

And while they are middle of the pack overall against running backs, there is one aspect of their game where the Bengals just bleed fantasy points: the passing game That’s where Austin Ekeler comes in with his six targets per game and seven receiving touchdowns. The Bengals allow the most targets, second-most receptions, and fourth-most receiving yards to running backs, While other receivers might be locked down for Herbert Sunday, this could be an Ekeler explosion.

Typically we don’t want to play two running backs against one another in a DFS lineup, but this is a very unique situation considering the running back pass funnel for the Bengals and the fact that the Chargers are basically allowing teams to get what they want on the ground. The Chargers allow 145 rushing yards per game, which is 10 more than any other team and 20 more than the team ranked 25th in the league. They also allow the second-highest yards per rush to opponents and allow the third-most rushing touchdowns per game. This is a Joe Mixon smash spot if there ever was one and don’t be afraid to pair him with Ekeler.

Contrarian Stack: Justin Herbert + Keenan Allen + Ja’Marr Chase

Vikings Onslaught Stacks

Kirk Cousins + Adam Thielen/Justin Jefferson + Alexander Mattison

This is starting to look like one of those games where you just jam in different variations of the Vikings lineup and see which one hits with Cousins and his receivers. Cousins plus Mattison. Add in some Tyler Conklin. Mattison plus the Minnesota defense. I don’t mind sprinkling in some TJ Hockenson and some Josh Reynolds as a bring-back, but we should get a healthy amount of exposure to the Vikings.

“But Kirksey! The Lions are just middle of the pack in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks and running backs!” I know this. But they are allowing so many points in the first three quarters of games (26.3 per game) that teams just stop throwing against them because they are ahead and just pound the ball with running backs. The Lions rank 30th against running backs this season and allow the fourth-most rushing yards per game.

Your Vikings stacks should certainly include Mattison, but don’t ignore the Kirk Cousins stack with his receivers. Why? Detroit allows 12.1 yards per completion to opposing quarterbacks, the second-highest rate in the league.

Contrarian Stack: Alexander Mattison + Minnesota DST + Josh Reynolds

Buccaneer-Falcons Stacks

Tom Brady + Chris Godwin + Cordarelle Patterson

Considering the state of the Falcons’ offense these days, this may seem like a potential blowout with no appealing options on the Atlanta side. But, Vegas pegs this game to have a 52 total and Atlanta to score almost 20 points.

In the past few weeks, if the Falcons do anything on offense it has been through Cordarelle Patterson. He had 19 opportunities in Week 12 for 135 total yards and two touchdowns. The Falcons had 332 total yards and three touchdowns, so Patterson is clearly the player to own even against a tough run defense from Tampa Bay.

Leonard Fournette is certainly in play again after demolishing the Colts for four touchdowns last week. However, the Falcons have been especially horrendous with their passing defense, allowing the second-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks and ninth-most points to wide receivers this year. Brady will be without Antonio Brown again so that elevates Godwin who let down plenty of DFS managers last week. Godwin averaged 9.3 targets per game in his last four before producing just 24 yards on five targets last week. He is the target hog and should get plenty of opportunity against the poor Atlanta secondary.

Contrarian Stack: Leonard Fournette + Tampa Bay DST + Kyle Pitts/Russell Gage

Other Interesting DFS Stacks

Tua Tagovailoa + Jaylen Waddle + Kenny Golladay

It’s been the Tua Tagovailoa and Jaylen Waddle show the last four weeks with the wide receiver drawing 35 targets and 29 receptions over that span, plus at least 60 yards per game. Now they welcome the Giants to town who allow 287.6 passing yards per game on the road, second-most in the league. Good luck to their secondary is all I can say. Golladay is basically the last man standing for the Giants, including their quarterback. Mike Glennon will likely have to force-feed Golladay the ball in this one if they hope to stay close. He led the team in targets, receptions, yards, aDOT, air yards, and target share last week. That’s all we can hope for with a $5,000 salary on DK and $5,800 on FD.

Jonathan Taylor + IND DST + Brevin Jordan

Taylor and the Colts’ defense need no introduction against the lowly Texans this week. The Texans give up the sixth-most points to running backs this year and are 28th in sack percentage allowed to their quarterback. Don’t overthink it. But sneaky bring-back might be Brevin Jordan instead of Brandin Cooks. The Colts allow fifth-most fantasy points to tight ends including the second-most yards and receptions to the position. Since joining the Texans, Jordan has had three targets per game and two touchdowns in four games. He’s worth a low-price dart throw.

Jalen Hurts + Miles Sanders + PHI DST

The Eagles now rank dead last in the NFL in percentage of passing plays per game. Just barely 50% of their offensive snaps lead to throws, and that number drops to 40% over the last three games. If you roster Jalen Hurts and Miles Sanders, you are essentially gaining access to all of the potential points by the Eagles against a miserable Jets defense. The Jets allow more than four more fantasy points per game to opposing running backs than any other team and the ninth-most points to quarterbacks. With Zach Wilson still starting, the defense that opposes him is going to be in play every week.
