DFS Stacks: Week 18 Winners

Stefon-Diggs-Josh-Allen-dfs-stack

DFS stacks are necessary when building a slate-winning DFS lineup.  Every NFL DFS main slate for the remainder of the season is going to be absolutely loaded with strong plays across the salary spectrum. If you are building lineups for tournaments, GPPs, or large contests, it is absolutely imperative that you practice the art of stacking. Whether it’s a game stack or pure team stack, having multiple pieces of the most fantasy-friendly games on the slate is the way to separate you from the pack and push your roster to the top. Here are my favorite stacks to target this week in DFS Stacks: Week 18 Winners.

With that in mind, here are some of the top stacks for the Week 18 main slate on DraftKings and FanDuel.  I will also throw in a contrarian option for each stack in case these plays prove to be too chalky. So fire up the Soulja Boy, because we’re about to dive into some stacks on stacks on stacks.

Bills Onslaught Stacks

Josh Allen + Stefon Diggs + Dawson Knox

Let’s set the stage for what is in play for the Bills on Sunday. With a win against the New York Jets, the Bills can win the division, potentially move up to the 2nd or 3rd seed in the AFC, gain a couple of home playoff games, keep New England in the Wild Card spot, and avoid either Tennessee or Kansas City until the AFC Championship game. The Bills and Patriots both play in the late window on Sunday so they will not know their fate before the game starts. My gut tells me to go all-in on Buffalo in this scenario.

They have the second-highest implied total on the slate at more than four touchdowns and are massive 16.5-point favorites. The Jets may be the Jets, but they are not just going to roll over and die against a division opponent here. They have scored at least 24 points in three straight games and gave Tampa Bay all they could handle in Week 17. But, the opportunity is there for the taking for all the Bills’ offensive players.

The Jets allow the fifth-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks including the fourth-most passing yards. Dawson Know is a sneaky play on all sites as the Jets have allowed the second-most receiving yards to the position as well as the fourth-highest fantasy points per game this season. If the Bills are going to reach four or five touchdowns Sunday, the passing game will clearly be a part of that and you will want a piece in tournaments.

Contrarian Stack: Devin Singletary + BUF DST + Elijah Moore

Seahawks-Cardinals Stacks

Kyler Murray + Christian Kirk + DK Metcalf

Similar to the Bills, the Cardinals have plenty to fight for on Sunday. They can still win the division with a win and a Rams loss. They can move up to the 2nd seed and gain a first-round home game against a wild card opponent. Their incentive to push the gas on Sunday is clear.

The winning ticket outside of Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase lately has been Murray and Kirk. Kirk averages nine targets per game and a 25% target share over his last four games, filling the void left by DeAndre Hopkins. Murray is the QB4 in fantasy over the last two games as he is back to his best Michael Vick impression, destroying opponents in the air and on the ground.

The Cardinals have surprisingly struggled against defending opposing wide receivers, especially in the Red Zone. They allow just the 21st-most receiving yards (2,395) but have given up 24 touchdowns to receivers, four more than any other team. Metcalf has three times as many Red Zone targets (18) than any other player on the team and should be plenty busy as Seattle tries to keep up with the high-powered Cardinals’ offense.

Contrarian Stack: Russell Wilson + Tyler Lockett + Zach Ertz

Titans-Texans Stacks

Ryan Tannehill + A.J. Brown + Brandin Cooks

The theme of the best stacks of the week is that they all involve teams that are clearly incentivized to win on Sunday. The Titans fall right in line with that pattern. They are desperately trying to hold onto the one seed in the AFC and a first-round bye. They will know if the Chiefs win Saturday against Denver (they presumably will), which means they can’t take their foot off the gas unless the Broncos pull a massive upset.

Two weeks ago we saw the ceiling games of all ceiling games from A.J. Brown when he dropped 11 catches for 145 yards and a score on the 49ers. Sunday was a disappointment with only five targets and two receptions, but the Titans were 34-3 and never had a need to throw the ball against Miami. But Brown leads the NFL in share of his teams’ air yards and is fifth in target share among all wide receivers. This should be a more competitive game against Houston (the Texans already beat Tennessee once this year), and Houston has been more competitive lately, winning three of their last seven games. The Texans allow the sixth-most receiving yards to wide receivers this year while allowing only the 18th-most receptions. That means they are frequently getting beat downfield. Come on down, A.J. Brown!

Cooks has always been the answer to the “Who is the Texans’ bring back” question in DFS. Like Brown, Cooks is top-ten in the NFL in both target share and share of team air yards and he has been thriving with Davis Mills under center. In games where Mills has started, Cooks averages 16.3 PPR points per game compared to 11.7 PPR points when he does not play. The Texans presumably are trailing some during this game, which means plenty of targets for Cooks.

Contrarian Stack: D’Onta Foreman + Brandin Cooks/Brevin Jordan

Other Interesting Stacks

Matt Stafford + Cooper Kupp + Brandon Aiyuk

Beyond the simple fact that both the Rams and the 49ers desperately need this win (It’s win or go home for San Francisco), there is the added wrinkle of Kupp going for several records this week. He is only 12 catches and 136 yards away from breaking both of those seasonal marks and you can be assured that Stafford will try to get him those numbers as long as it doesn’t negatively impact their chances of winning. But putting all that aside, you already know Kupp was simply the best receiver in the game this year. The Rams are projected for 3.5 touchdowns in this game and Kupp leads all receivers in scores this year. Over the last four weeks, Aiyuk is WR19 in fantasy points while he was just WR47 in weeks 1-13. Whether it’s been Jimmy Garoppolo or Trey Lance, both quarterbacks have looked his way recently, and he looks like a good play in a potential shootout this week.

Kirk Cousins + Justin Jefferson + Darnell Mooney

We can start with Darnell Mooney, who is the clear choice for the Bears even without Justin Fields under center this week. Mooney leads the Bears in targets, red zone looks, yards, and touchdowns among all their receivers. The Vikings just bleed fantasy points to opposing wide receivers, allowing 27.9 fantasy points per week, more than 1.5 points more than the next closest team. Kirk Cousins likely comes into this game with a massive chip on his shoulder after hearing all week that his positive COVID test likely ruined the Vikings’ playoff chances. The Bears allow the third-most passing touchdowns this year and the second-most touchdowns to wide receivers. Jefferson is second only to Davante Adams in total targets the last three weeks and has very little target competition with Adam Thielen out for the year.
