DFS Stacks: Week 5 Winners

Every NFL DFS main slate for the remainder of the season is going to be absolutely loaded with strong plays across the salary spectrum. If you are building lineups for tournaments, GPPs, or large contests, it is absolutely imperative that you practice the art of stacking. Whether it’s a game stack or pure team stack, having multiple pieces of the most fantasy-friendly games on the slate is the way to separate you from the pack and push your roster to the top. Here are my favorite stacks to target this week in DFS Stacks: Week 5 Winners.

With that in mind, here are some of the top stacks for the Week 5 main slate on DraftKings and FanDuel.  I will also throw in a contrarian option for each stack in case these plays prove to be too chalky. So fire up the Soulja Boy, because we’re about to dive into some stacks on stacks on stacks.

Derrick Henry + AJ Brown + Marvin Jones/Laviska Shenault

Even with Derrick Henry rostered between 30%-50% in certain contests last week on DraftKings, he remained a key part of many winning lineups. Nothing changes this week, including Henry’s salary (only $200 more than Week 4), and Henry is on tap for just as strong a matchup against an overmatched Jaguars defense. This will come as no surprise, but Henry ranks among the top-five running backs in Consistency Score and is in the top-12 of running backs in 75% of his games coming into Week 5.

With Henry and AJ Brown, you have the Titans players will certainly combine for the most opportunities against a Jaguars defense that allows the fourth-most yards per play this season and third-most yards per game. Julio Jones looks to be out again for Week 5.

With DJ Chark out of the picture for the foreseeable future, the Jaguars passing game will center around Marvin Jones and Laviska Shenault. I am a big fan of Shenault at his low salary for cash games ($4,800 on DK, $5,800 on FD) and a fan of Jones in tournaments ($5,700 DK, $6,600 FD). Coming off a dud game in Week 4 and with a higher salary than Shenault, I imagine Jones will have a low roster percentage in tournaments. The Jaguars pass at the 11-highest rate in the league (62%) and Tennessee allows the 10th-most passing yards per game at 266.8.

Davante Adams + Joe Burrow + Ja’Marr Chase/Tee Higgins

The Bengals finally unleashed Joe Burrow against the Jaguars in Week 4, letting him throw 32 times for 348 yards (both season-highs) in a game that came down to the wire. Burrow might have to throw 50 times in Week 5 to keep up with Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense that has scored at least 27 points in their three games since the Week 1 letdown against the Saints. With Joe Mixon likely sitting this weekend, the Bengals will likely bump up their already potent passing attack.

Cincinnati throws 53.6% of the time this season, but that number was 60% in Week 4 and I can see a game script transpiring where the Bengals have to give up on an ineffective run game split by Samaje Perine and Chris Evans and just focus on scoring through the air. With top cornerback Jaire Alexander out for this game, that opens up the downfield threats like Higgins and Chase for potential big games.

Adams disappointed many DFS lineups last week with just six catches on 11 targets for 64 yards. But that doesn’t mean we can’t go right back to him as an exception DFS option this week. The Packers lost Marquez Valdes-Scantling to the IR which opens up more targets and deeper targets for Adams. Adams is already second among all wide receivers in target share at 36% and also demands 38% of the team’s air yards. There are going to be plenty of points in this game, which means Adams is going to need to be a significant piece of your stack this week.

Contrarian Stack: Aaron Rodgers + Aaron Jones + Tyler Boyd

Dak Prescott + Amari Cooper/CeeDee Lamb + Saquon Barkley

I’m not exactly sure where CeeDee Lamb has been the past two games, but it certainly hasn’t been on any winning DFS lineups. Amari Cooper, Dalton Schultz, and Ezekiel Elliott have been the majority of the Cowboys offense, while Lamb has combined for 12.8 points on DK and 10.3 points on FD. But if we can get a receiver with Lamb’s upside at less than $7,000 on both sites, I am all in.

The Giants are bottom-12 in the league in passing yards allowed at 259 yards per game. But they have stark differences at home and on the road. At home, they only allow 241 passing yards to opposing quarterbacks, while they allow 277 per game on the road. This week they travel to Dallas in a game with a total that has passed 54 points. A ‘Dak Stack’ with any of his receivers is a must this week, with Cooper, Lamb, and even Schultz all making for good plays.

Barkley represents a somewhat unconventional correlation option to this game, as you would typically want a wide receiver bring-back in a game with this kind of total. But the Cowboys really struggle in all aspects against running backs. They allow the sixth-most yards per rush to their opponents (4.7) and they also allow the most receptions to the position this season. This sets up perfectly for Barkley, who was up to 89% of snaps in Week 4 and is now at more than a 13% target share this year.

Contrarian Stack: Ezekiel Elliott + Daniel Jones + Kenny Golladay

Other Interesting Stacks

Kyler Murray + Chase Edmonds + Deebo Samuel + George Kittle – With Murray and Edmonds you will have access to just about every touchdown Arizona scores in this game pushing a 50 over/under on Sunday. Edmonds has been a revelation this season and ranks fourth among all running backs in our consistency score metric. Trying to figure out the San Francisco running back plan is absolutely maddening, so against a high-powered offense, take the most explosive wide receiver in the NFL along with Kittle. With a 28% target share and 92 air yards in Week 4, the San Francisco tight end is ready for a huge game coming this week.

Kirk Cousins + Justin Jefferson + TJ Hockenson – If Dalvin Cook were more reliable at this stage of the season, we would throw him in this stack. But with that lack of clarity, we have to run out Cousins and the Vikings’ passing game. That’s been a winning proposition as the Lions allow the most passing yards per attempt to opponents and also rank 31st in yards per play to opposing offenses. Hockenson still leads this Detroit team in target share and air yards, even with a couple of disappointing weeks. He looks to be on track to play.

Leonard Fournette + Buccaneers DST + Davante Parker – You could easily go with Tom Brady in this game, but it looks like the Bucs have decided to feature the running game recently. It’s a smart bet that this trend continues against Miami who allows the fourth-most fantasy points to running backs this year. Tampa, on the other hand, is now a pass funnel for opponents. The Buccaneers allow the second-most fantasy points to wide receivers while allowing the sixth-fewest to running backs. Parker should be featured again without Will Fuller in the lineup.
