DJ Moore 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook
Fantasy Football Outlook
One of the most fascinating wide receivers has found a new home in Chicago. DJ Moore has wanted out of Carolina for the past two years, and his wish was granted. The news was massive before the 2023 NFL Draft when Carolina traded Moore, the ninth overall pick, 61st overall pick, a first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, and a second-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft for the number one pick in NFL 2023 Draft.
On Sports Illustrated, Moore quoted, “I was really just like whatever. Like, let’s go. At that point, it was just like we want to start somewhere new, and that put a chip on my shoulder because we got to go somewhere new. But other than that, I was just like, alright. They wanted to move up and get rid of me, so I’m going to go somewhere where I’m loved.”
Moore is ready to catch fire in Chicago, and the hype train has certainly left the station. He has been in the league for five years since he was 21. In three of those seasons, he earned over 1,000 receiving yards with an unstable quarterback group. The former NFL Draft round one pick in 2018 has something to prove.
In our 2023 PPR Fantasy Football Draft Rankings, he is number 46 overall, and in the wide receiver category, he is 22 overall. He certainly eclipses into the top 15 by now having Justin Fields as his quarterback. The videos are all over Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter, showing the highlight routes Moore is running with Fields throwing darts at him. That may seem cheesy at first glance because it’s training camp, and so many players are doing well, but the connection is forming for the duo.
Fantasy Football Outlook for 2023
Moore is undoubtedly the number one option on this team. Darnell Mooney is coming off a 400-receiving-yard season, but the ligament tear he sustained in week 12 of last season made him miss the last five games. No one on this team will take away the target funnel that is leading to him. Chase Claypool and Equanimeous St. Brown are names that don’t scare me about taking targets away from him.
Fields have been looking in training camp the whole time for Moore. The duo is young, but it is a rising star who will be fantastic. Fields had a lackluster group of wide receivers who he had to file through with no one standing out.
Outside of all the football statistics and fantasy football scores in the previous seasons, he has the motivation to prove to everyone why he is elite. This is the year Fields needs to make the leap, and Moore will certainly be able to help him accomplish that. This is the year he will prove the doubters wrong!
Dynasty Football Outlook
In your typical leagues, Moore is certainly a WR2 for you and a low-end WR1 at best. It may take a bit, but the connection will be formed later on in the weeks between him and Fields. In dynasty fantasy football leagues, I am buying into the hype. All things considered, I want all of him in this format with the form he will be in his new home.
