Dolphins CB Jalen Ramsey (Knee) To Undergo Surgery
Jalen Ramsey, the star cornerback for the Miami Dolphins, suffered a knee injury in Training Camp on Thursday. He is expected to have surgery on his knee and will miss the start of the season. (Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter)
Ramsey is entering his 9th season in the NFL after signing with the Miami Dolphins during the offseason. He spent his first four seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Then, he spent four more seasons with the Los Angeles Rams.
Ramsey is highly regarded as one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. After having a weak pass defense in 2022, the addition of Ramsey was set to be a massive upgrade for this defense. Unfortunately,
Reportedly, Ramsey’s ACL is still intact but will have surgery on his knee to make a full meniscus repair. Ideally, it sounds like Ramsey would be ready by December. Needless to say, I wouldn’t expect Ramsey back to full strength until next year.
Fantasy Football Outlook
For fantasy football purposes, this really only affects IDP leagues and leagues that still use DSTs. The Dolphins DST is still a fairly solid unit and was ranked 6th according to PFF prior to this injury. They should still be a solid option, but this certainly isn’t ideal and their secondary should be a weak spot again. In your dynasty fantasy football leagues, Ramsey might be worth acquiring for the cheap. Keep in mind, he’ll turn 29 years old in October.
