DraftKings Cash Game Picks for DFS – Wild Card Weekend

Quarterbacks

Matthew Stafford ($6,500)

This will be peak cinema for the NFL. One could say this almost feels like a scripted matchup. Stafford will be heading back into Ford Field to face former Rams QB Jared Goff and Stafford’s former team the Detroit Lions. This will be the Lions first home playoff game since 1993. Hollywood couldn’t even have written something this good.

The Lions defense has been very good against the run this year. However, their pass defense has struggled all season, as they have allowed the sixth most fantasy points to quarterbacks. Furthermore, Stafford has been lighting it up in the back half of the regular season. He threw for at least 279 passing yards or multiple touchdowns in his last six matchups. Before those six games, he had only thrown multiple touchdowns in one game. Stafford is well-rested after sitting in Week 18 and should be in line for a big game to knock out his former team.

Joe Flacco ($6,100)

Flacco threw for 368 passing yards and three touchdowns against this Houston Texans secondary less than a month ago. Furthermore, Flacco has scored at least 22.9 DraftKings points in his last four games. Moreover, the Texans give up an average of 253 passing yards per game. Flacco has been a gunslinger since making his return to the NFL earlier this season. The Browns can make a run if Flacco continues playing well. There is no reason to believe Flacco won’t replicate his regular season game against the Texans.

Running Backs

James Cook ($6,600)

Cook’s fantasy production has dropped off these last three weeks. However, he’s still seeing a majority of snaps and a good chunk of carries. This week, Cook will face off against the Pittsburgh Steelers. They aren’t bad against the run but they aren’t great either. More importantly, the Buffalo Bills should be able to take control of this game. That will allow Cook to see plenty of work and put together some solid fantasy points.

Jaylen Warren ($5,100)

The Pittsburgh Steelers are 10-point underdogs so they will more than likely be playing from behind at some point in this game. That bodes well for Warren, as he is the Steelers receiving back. Warren has seen at least four receptions in each of his last five games. Furthermore, the Bills have allowed the ninth most receptions and the fifth most receiving yards to running backs during the regular season. Warren has the big play ability and if he can find some space on dump-offs, he can put up some fantasy points in a hurry.

Wide Receivers

Cooper Kupp ($7,500

Kupp is due for one of his monster games. This is the perfect matchup for him to do just that because the Lions allow the third most fantasy points to slot receivers this season. Furthermore, Kupp has been awesome in his playoff career scoring seven touchdowns in only six games. This matchup against the Lions is setting up to be a shootout with the over/under set at 51.5. Look for Kupp to be a big reason for that and find the end zone at least once.

Khalil Shakir ($3,400)

Shakir has had a solid sophomore season after a very disappointing rookie year. More importantly, he’s coming off one of his best games of the year. He caught six passes for 105 receiving yards and stepped up big time. The Bills took down the Miami Dolphins to win the AFC East. If Gabe Davis is unable to play this week, that makes Shakir an even better play. Although, Shakir is still a great value even if Davis can go.

Tight Ends

David Njoku ($5,600)

Njoku has gone from dynasty darling after he was drafted to what many thought was just a bust. However, once Flacco took over Njoku took off and displayed his potential. With Flacco at quarterback over the last four games, Njoku has seen at least eight targets in each contest. More importantly, he’s finally scoring touchdowns with four of his six touchdowns on the year being in the final four weeks. Moreover, the Texans are one of the worst teams against tight ends this season, allowing the most receptions in the NFL to the position. Look for Njoku to come up huge and help send the Browns to the next round.

Durham Smythe ($3,000)

The value tight end didn’t work last week but let’s try it again this week. Smythe has at least 30 receiving yards in each of his last four games. He’s consistently on the field seeing at least 66% of snaps in all but one game this season. This will be a tougher matchup for Smythe as the Kansas City Chiefs have been a top-10 team against tight ends this season. However, of the value tight ends in the $3,000 range, Smythe has been more consistent over the last month of the regular season.

Defense / Special Teams

Philadelphia Eagles ($3,400)

Picking a defense for the playoffs is tougher than the regular season because the matchups are typically better. However, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense has been struggling the last two weeks only scoring 22 total points. In those matchups, Baker Mayfield has been sacked five times and also had a couple of turnovers. The Eagles’ defense has the personnel up front to get after Baker in this matchup. Look for Hassan Reddick to wreak havoc and get after Mayfield for some sacks and turnovers in this game.
