Dynasty Rookie Profile: Chris Rodriguez Jr.

Running Back – Kentucky

6’0, 229 lbs

Strengths

Rodriguez is an older running back out of Kentucky who runs with physicality. A true North-to-South style of runner who had a productive career, averaging 6.2 yards per touch for over 3,600 total yards. He finishes runs with the forward lean for the additional yards, as well as shows good contact balance to keep momentum in play. Furthermore, Rodriguez has good vision, selecting the optimal lane early on and turning upfield. He also has great ball security with zero career fumbles.

Weaknesses

While Rodriguez isn’t going to outrun you, his strength is going to stand out a bit less at the NFL level than it did in college. His elusiveness and creativity as a runner are minimal at best. He also won’t be on the field for passing downs, as he isn’t a threat in the passing game, nor is he refined in pass protection. This will limit his upside in fantasy football and ultimately, in your dynasty rookie drafts.

NFL Fit and Draft Capital

Rodriguez is an older prospect whose game lacks the added dimension in the passing game and cannot contribute to the return game. He is a late Day 3 pick and a future roster clogger in dynasty rookie drafts. In an optimistic view he could catch on somewhere, but he is a rotational back at the most in the NFL. His profile should be raised by his Senior Bowl appearance, but in a highly competitive class, Rodriguez doesn’t move the needle.
