Dynasty Rookie Profile: Jordan Addison

Wide Receiver – USC

6’0, 175 lbs

Strengths

Addison has elite hands at the wide receiver position, even by NFL standards. He naturally grabs the ball and doesn’t suffer from concentration drops. When he goes up for the ball, he’s aggressive, with well-timed jumps and full arm extension. His reach is up there with the top of the class as well. With his routes, he shows great agility. He can get some separation like I haven’t seen since my parents’ divorce.

Furthermore, Addison leverages defenders and is able to create blind spots for defenders. When he disengages off the press, he looks good when given the opportunity to use agility to get off of press coverage. He does well with yards after the catch in setting up blockers in space. All in all, he plays well at all three levels of the passing game.

Weaknesses

Addison could use more size at the next level and his playstyle to match. Physical corners who can get their hands on him will slow him down. He also isn’t a burner, so adding weight could slow down his speed. Finally, he doesn’t break all that many tackles when engaged with a defender.

NFL Draft Capital and NFL Fit

The 2021 Biletnikoff Award winner has had a down season by comparison, after transferring from Pittsburgh to USC. With his size in place, he won’t be the  X receiver in an offense and likely will do better in the Y or as the slot receiver. If he goes to a team with that  X receiver in place, he should be a WR2 by the end of his sophomore season. He should be a 1st Round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and going rather early among them.

Addison will more than likely be a top-20 pick and the first wide receiver off of the board in the 2023 NFL Draft. As for your rookie drafts, he will be in contention to be the first receiver off of the board and should go in the middle of the first round in dynasty rookie drafts.
