Fantasy-Football-IDP-Waiver-Wire-Warnings-Week-5-Winners

We’re breaking down the top waiver wire warnings and Week 5 winners. The 2023 IDP fantasy football drama is still in full effect, who’s got issues, and who’s hot on the waiver wire? So we’ll lay it all out for this week’s hottest and coldest NFL defensive players. Additionally, we’ll determine if they slide down or up our waiver wire and auction lists this time around.

Waiver Wire Warnings for IDP Fantasy Leagues

Chargers Inside Linebackers
1. Depending on how we look at it, this one reaches the standard formats as well as the deep ones. There were a lot of IDP managers who leaned on avoiding the Charger’s ILB Kenneth Murray. And despite the same positive reports out of camp this season, which we’ve heard many times before. Murray has indeed started producing points again while Eric Kendricks was out.

Although, coming out of the bye week and considering Kendricks returned in Week 4. We have to consider that since Murray kept the green dot and played twice as many snaps as Kendricks did that week. While also noting. There is no clear winner on film as both are grading out well under par according to PFF and only in the high 40s.

Who’s to say they don’t stay with Murray over Kendricks as the main ILB seeing the stronger snaps and role? That question alone can cap off either player’s ceiling. So for Week 6, either of them in any format will be risky, but the real warning here is on Kendricks this Week. When we might not want to rush off and assume anything just yet.

Giants Inside Linebackers
IDP managers really got a bonus with the Giants’ Micah McFadden (ankle) so far this year. He averaged around 70% of the snaps but produced like a 95% player at times. Although now we’re not so certain in this case he’ll have a starting gig to come back to after he’s healthy. McFadden was producing like a champ, but that’s not the tail of the tape, so to speak. And when he’s grading out fairly weak (49.9) and Isaiah Simmons (66.5) isn’t as bad as McFadden’s replacement.

So could this lead to a rotation in the coming weeks? Or could Simmons simply take over now that he’s learned the Giants system after a late summer trade? It’s certainly a warning to heed now and something to anticipate going wrong at some point. If nothing else, the contest that McFadden is back could be really risky. And means at least for one week we might want to look elsewhere or pick up Simmons off the IDP waiver wire as a handcuff. At least for now.

Week 6 Hot Targets

ILB – Tyrel Dodson – BUF

(Matchup Strengths)

WK6 – Solid – vs. Giants
WK7 – Solid – @ Patriots
WK8 – OK – vs. Buccaneers

Matt Milano went down with a broken leg this weekend leaving a door open for mass production in Buffalo. And some might assume that with earlier reports Dorian Willaims was Milano’s backup. It is him, but it was Dodson who slid right in and assumed most of that production with the bigger snap count share. Although we aren’t 100% sure this sticks with this just occurring, we do think it’s worth the shot to go after either. Overall, we just believe that if the rookie couldn’t displace any of these young veterans before now. All things considered, it’s going to be even tougher to think that’s the case here now.

LB/DE – Haason Reddick – PHI

WK6 – Solid – @ Jets
WK7 – OK – vs. Dolphins
WK8 – Strong – vs. Commanders

As weird as it is to his Reddick’s name here, we realize many of us had to cut him along the way. Even after he just had a decent performance in Week 4 against Washington which should have been way more. So we’re assuming he’s clear on some formats, and do suggest getting him with the Jets on tap this week. A top 10 for edge matchups, and we went with just solid in case it’s not in the cards after such a weak start to the season. Noting now, he’s been nursing a hand injury, and that seems like it’s well healed now.

OLB/DE – Marcus Davenport – MIN

WK6 – Solid – @ Bears
WK7 – OK – vs. 49ers
WK8 – OK – @ Packers

Again, another player that’s been hurt after joining the Vikings this year. Additionally, Marcus Davenport does indeed have a history of Consistency issues in his career. But in this case, we also know he can be streaky from time to time with his days in New Orleans. So assuming that converting from a defensive end to an outside linebacker did some good. We’ll ride the hot hand after he’s blown up in Week 5 versus the Chiefs, who are tough to get sacks on.

That’s also now two contests since coming back he’s produced and held a firm snap count. The Bears are very generous off the edge. And well enough so we could expect him to overachieve that solid mark again this week. It’ll also be ill-advised to think he can keep this up all year because of his history. And already being hurt in Minnesota. So don’t go dropping any long-term holds you might have to get him.
