Week 13 Waiver Wire Pickups – Quarterbacks
Drake Maye, New England Patriots – 21% rostered on ESPN
Maye is having a very good rookie campaign. He also has one of the safer fantasy floors, running for at least 24 yards in each of the last five weeks and averaging 9.5 yards per carry in that span. Similar scrambling signal callers have run for 41 (Willis), 55 (Fields), and 50 (Allen) yards against the Colts, who will face off with New England this week.
Cooper Rush, Dallas Cowboys – 8% rostered on Sleeper
More valuable in superflex or 2QB leagues, Rush is not likely to be a highly targeted waiver pickup. However, he has one of the most quarterback-friendly schedules going forward. Three of the Cowboys’ next four matchups are against defenses (Giants, Panthers, Buccaneers) that are all top five in our D-PAC Score for quarterbacks. Ultimately, Rush could be a sneaky good play over the next few weeks.
Week 13 Waiver Wire Pickups – Running Backs
Ameer Abdullah, Las Vegas Raiders – 25% rostered on Yahoo
As the Raiders’ starting running back in Week 12, Abdullah was a fantasy savior. He played 90 percent of the offensive snap, caught five passes for 37 yards and a score, and ran for another 28 yards in a tough matchup with Denver. Kansas City is an equally difficult outing for running backs, but Abdullah excels at the passing game. The downside is, if either Alexander Mattison or Zamir White are active, he’ll be relegated to a secondary role.
Roschon Johnson, Chicago Bears – 37% rostered on Sleeper
Johnson is another handcuff that should be on your fantasy radar. With their newly appointed offensive coordinator, the Bears have shown that they’re willing to lean on their running attack. While the upcoming schedule is less-than-desirable, Johnson is the primary backup who would see a significant increase in touches, should anything happen to D’Andre Swift.
Jaylen Wright, Miami Dolphins – 5% rostered on ESPN
Having overtaken veteran Raheem Mostert as the primary backup to De’Von Achane, rookie Jaylen Wright has seen at least five carries in each of the last four weeks. In fact, Mostert has managed exactly zero total yards on five touches in his last two games. Wright should be rostered as insurance for Achane with the possibility of a pop-off performance.
Week 13 Waiver Wire Pickups – Wide Receivers
Adam Thielen, Carolina Panthers – 27% rostered on ESPN
Thielen is a name to pay attention to solely for the role he played as Bryce Young’s favorite target in 2023. That season, Thielen snagged 103 catches for 1014 receiving yards on 137 targets. In his first game back from injury, the veteran tallied a season-high 57 receiving yards, showing the Young trust his and is ready to go back to where they left off last year.
Marquez Valdes-Scantling, New Orleans Saints – 35% rostered on Sleeper
Showing off his ability to make huge plays, Valdes-Scantling hauled in five passes for 196 yards and two touchdowns in his last two starts for the Saints. We haven’t seen him get a ton of volume, but when a player is averaging 28.4 yards per catch, volume feels like a luxury. If his target numbers increase, Valdes-Scantling would become one of the most polarizing players in fantasy.
Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Tennessee Titans – 12% rostered on Yahoo
We hear all the time that “touchdowns are unpredictable,” but Westbrook-Ikhine seems to be putting that notion to shame. The fifth-year receiver has scored in five of his last six contests and played at least 85 percent of offensive snaps in five straight games.
The next two games for the Titans should further benefit the wide receivers. Washington has allowed multiple receiver scores in three of their last four games. The next week, they’ll face a Jaguars defense that has allowed the second-most receiving scores (23) this season.
Week 13 Waiver Wire Pickups – Tight Ends
Will Dissly, Los Angeles Chargers – 36% rostered on ESPN
Dissly continues to be a feature of the Chargers passing attack. He has eclipsed 40 receiving yards in four of his last five games, twice hitting the 80-yard mark. Now with Hayden Hurst being placed on injured reserve and the stone-like hand of Quentin Johnston, we could see an increase in target share for the tight end. Dissly is also an adept run blocker, leading to further involvement in the offense. With all these factors and some nice matchups coming, Dissly could round out the year as a top-five fantasy football tight end.
Luke Schoonmaker, Dallas Cowboys – 19% rostered on Sleeper
It’s time for Dallas to get their younger talent on the field to see what they can do. Schoonmaker has shown some great consistency, tallying 56 and 55 receiving yards in the last two contests. In fact, totaled at least 43 receiving yards in each of his games with more than one reception. Couple those numbers with another nasty bye week on the horizon and you’ve got a tight end worth adding to your squad.
Week 13 Waiver Wire Pickups – DSTs
Los Angeles Rams – 23% rostered on Yahoo
With 14 sacks and five interceptions in their last four games, the Rams are going full throttle to earn a postseason berth. In Week 13, they’ll travel to New Orleans to cause some chaos. The Saints have struggled to move the ball on the ground in two of the last three weeks with showings of 80 and 66 total rushing yards. Derek Carr will have to throw more passes, and he’s not as capable of avoiding pressure.
Week 13 Waiver Wire Pickups – Kickers
Wil Lutz, Denver Broncos – 21% rostered on Yahoo
The Broncos offense has been quite successful this season. More successful than many folks thought they’d be. Due to that, Lutz is getting opportunities for more than just PATs. With five made field goals in Week 12, Lutz has converted at least three field goals four times this season. This week will be a home game against the Browns. Lutz has made 21 of 21 kicks attempted at home this season.
