George Kittle 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook – Now a Value?
The 2024 fantasy football season is quickly approaching and many drafts will be taking place over the next few weeks. Who should you draft? Who should you avoid? A player who I am truly conflicted about is San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle.
TE George Kittle Fantasy Football Outlook
In this article, I’ll dive into Kittle’s 2024 fantasy football value, analyzing last year’s performance, his current team dynamics, and his potential for the upcoming season. We’ll explore his strengths, potential red flags, and compare him to other tight ends in the league. Whether you’re contemplating drafting him or trading for him in your dynasty league, this comprehensive analysis will help you make an informed decision on Kittle.
Other than his rookie year in 2017 whenKittle finished as the TE23 and in 2020 where he was the TE20 as a result of missing half the season, Kittle has been a top five tight end during his career. He’s finished as the TE3, TE4, TE3, TE4 and last season finished as the TE5. Outside of tight end Travis Kelce, Kittle has been a consistent and elite fantasy option for fantasy managers.
2024 Fantasy Football Outlook For George Kittle
I find it extremely interesting that Kittle’s ADP is TE8 even though he has consistently been a top-five tight end during his career. This speaks to the increased depth and youth at the tight end position where players like Sam LaPorta (the TE1 last year), Trey McBride, Dalton Kincaid, and Kyle Pitts are all ranked higher.
If you drafted Kittle last year the following numbers will seem familiar: 4.9, 6, 1.9, 1.1, 4.9, 5.9. These are the six weeks where Kittle scored six or fewer PPR points a game. Conversely, Kittle scored 27.7, 23.9, 20.6, 22.9, 16.6, and 19.6 fantasy points during six different weeks last season. All in all, it truly was a boom or bust year for Kittle. Despite some solid quarterback play from Brock Purdy, the consistency just hasn’t been there.
A bigger concern for me with Kittle is that he led all tight ends in the negative difference between total fantasy points scored and expected fantasy points at 44.1. Translation: Kittle scored 44.1 more fantasy points versus what would have been expected based on how he was used and targeted in the 49ers offense. That still would have made him the TE10 for the year though. With all the different stars that the Niners have on offense such as Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, and Brandon Aiyuk, there is no surprise at Kittle’s weekly fluctuations in fantasy points scored nor his expected fantasy points.
Dynasty Football Outlook
Kittle’s dynasty fantasy football ADP is just one spot lower than his redraft one at TE9. Kittle turns 31 years of age this October. Even though tight ends can be productive well into their early 30s, unless I am a contender for winning the championship, I would look to offload Kittle. Notably, we have Kittle as the TE10 in our latest dynasty rankings.
Conclusion
Overall, Kittle’s redraft ADP of TE8 and TE9 in dynasty are fair price points for the veteran tight end. The new, younger tight ends seem to be overshadowing Kittle such as Sam LaPorta. Due to the offense and stars in the 49ers lineup, Kittle’s weekly fluctuations in fantasy points will exist for this year.
If you can live with the weekly boom/bust totals, then you could do much worse in drafting Kittle this year. Overall, he may end up being a value in all formats this year.
