Dynasty Rookie Profile: Dalton Kincaid

Tight End – Utah

6’4, 241 lbs

Strengths

Kincaid is a tight end who started his college career at San Diego State and transferred to Utah in 2020. He does great with using his size to box out smaller defenders down the field, making himself an easy target in the passing game. Thanks to his natural hands he had a high catch rate and 66 receptions this past season. His use as a prototypical tight end would be at the next level. Finally, he does show a high motor in the run game, even if his technique needs work. 

Weaknesses

Despite his size, he could use more work in blocking nuances. Kincaid isn’t normally used in pass protection beyond an occasional chip. While not directly fantasy relevant, it will contribute to his usage and therefore his opportunity. He has to operate quicker in getting his head around for the short passing game. Compared to many tight ends in the NFL, he isn’t particularly fast or strong, which lowers his ceiling at a position that athletic testing strongly favors.

NFL Fit and Draft Capital

Kincaid has only played football since 2017. His upside along with his reliable hands are going to be a driving force in the scouting opinion of him. Kincaid is a Redshirt Senior at a position that normally doesn’t break out until a later age at the Pro level. Additionally, he has been a hot name and big-time riser since the fall process and now looks to be a 1str Round in the 2023 NFL Draft. With that kind of capital and the ‘Travis Kelce’ comparisons coming in, Kincaid has a great shot at being the first tight end off of the board in your dynasty rookie drafts.

Furthermore, the NFL has been making a push for the tight end position as a mismatch/chess piece on the field. I would recommend grabbing Kincaid early in the second round of your upcoming dynasty rookie drafts.
