Hayden Hurst Signs With Panthers – Fantasy Outlook
NFL Network’s Mike Garofolo is reporting that free-agent TE Hayden Hurst has signed a three-year deal worth $21.75 million with the Carolina Panthers. This deal includes $13 million in guaranteed money.
Fantasy Football Outlook: After moving off both RB Christain McCaffrey and DJ Moore since the NFL trade deadline, plus, the fact that RB D’Onta Foreman is a free agent, Panthers skill position players are amongst one of the worst constructed units in the NFL. They need to beef it up for whoever their starting quarterback is in 2023.
Hurst is the first addition. He will slide into Carolina’s TE1 spot and likely take on an expanded role in the offense. Hurst could be in line for his busiest year ever as a pro. HC Frank Reich heavily features pass-catching tight ends in his offense. Furthermore, assuming the Panthers start a rookie quarterback under center, a tight end like Hurst will be his best friend.
Hurst managed a 54/439/2 stat line on 70 targets last season in 14 games. He was the TE19 in FPPG (7.9) on an offense that featured Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Hurst is in line for a breakout depending on what the Panthers add at receiver.
