With the 2022 NFL season in the books, there are now four teams eligible for the next spot on HBO’s Hard Knocks. In order to qualify to be on the show, there are a few criteria that the team must meet. Firstly, an NFL team must miss the NFL postseason for two straight seasons. Next, the need to have a coach who is in at least his second year on the job. Finally, they must not have participated in the program in the last decade.
Potential Teams for 2023 Hard Knocks
For the 2023 season, there are four NFL teams that meet these criteria:
- Chicago Bears
- New Orleans Saints
- New York Jets
- Washington Commanders
Personally, I believe this year will feature either the Bears or the Jets. Both of these teams have young, exciting players such as Justin Fields, Breece Hall, and Garrett Wilson. Recently, Chicago traded the 1st overall pick in the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft to the Panthers. Between Fields and their fantastic execution in free agency, they’d be a fun team to watch for sure.
As for the Jets, with all of their drama surrounding quarterback Zach Wilson, this one would definitely be exciting to watch. Not to mention, their second-year stud players like Hall, Wilson, and Sauce Gardner. Gardner and Wilson are the third set of rookie teammates in NFL history to win offensive and defensive Rookie of the Year awards. Oh yeah, and Aaron Rodgers.
Needless to say, both of these teams would be great candidates for the show this year. However, the Saints recently acquired Derek Carr, which would make New Orleans a fun one to see as well. Washington on the other hand, would definitely be the least exciting option of the four.
If I were to rank the potential teams that I’d like to see on this year’s edition of Hard Knocks, it would be as follows:
- New York Jets
- Chicago Bears
- New Orleans Saints
- Washington Commanders

Why would you want to hear the same stuff this offseason about ARod going to into a darkness retreat and Zack Wilson. I’m interested in seeing Fields! Kid will be in the MVP conversation by the end of 2023! On top of that Chicago Bears have a new President, their in early stages of building a new stadium and moving to Arlington Heights.
