Jaylen Waddle 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook
Fantasy Football Outlook
It’s 2023, and it’s time for us to watch the WR2 for the Miami Dolphins waddle his way into the end zone again. Miami had the wide receiver position on lock last season, with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle both finishing the year with over 1,300 receiving yards. Additionally, Miami had the only team with two wide receivers in the top 10 in fantasy points per game played.
Waddle heads into his third year in Miami with his success strongly hinging on Tagovailoa’s ability to stay healthy. Waddle will get targets, yards, and touchdowns if Tagovailoa is on the field. If it turns into a Mike White situation, things might go awry. According to our 2023 PPR fantasy football rankings, Waddle is the WR11, which is, therefore, fair to assume that we are projecting Tagovailoa to start an entire season.
Fantasy Football Outlook for 2023
Waddle is good at football.
If you are looking to grab a piece of the Miami offense, why not take advantage of the discount? His teammate Hill is currently going at the 1.10 in our redraft ADP, whereas you can wait for a full round to grab Waddle. That means you could draft a Saquon Barkley or a Nick Chubb before coming back a round later and snagging Waddle at the end of the second round. Personally, I prefer Waddle. His yards per target were 11.6 last season, the highest among ALL wide receivers in 2022. Additionally, also had eight receiving touchdowns, tied for eighth among wide receivers with the likes of Justin Jefferson, who has a much higher draft capital.
Furthermore, Waddle was in the top 20 among targets and yards, not to mention fifth in yards after the catch with over 500 yards. He has had over 1,000 receiving yards in both of his two seasons in the NFL, so there is nothing to suggest that will not continue. Oh, and remember that he had more yards the season they added Hill, not less.
If you are looking for something to pick on, one concern with Waddle is that his ADOT is remarkably low compared to his yards per target. We might see some regression for Waddle in that department this season, but you should still be ready for over 100 targets again.

Dynasty Football Outlook
Waddle has three years left on his rookie contract and is only a mere 24 years old. So really, his dynasty outlook is full of sunshine and rainbows. With Hill announcing he will (allegedly) retire after the 2025 season, Waddle’s stock is poised to skyrocket even more. Being a favorite of Tagovailoa, especially if he gets through 2023 sans a concussion, Waddle should have heavy consideration as a top-five wide receiver in dynasty startup drafts next season.
Currently, he is the WR10 our 1QB startup ADP. Although it can be quite tempting to trade Waddle to get a haul, keeping him as the cornerstone of a dynasty squad and building around him might be the smart move.
