NFL Preseason Week 2 Picks

Much like these teams keeping it vanilla in the preseason, my approach has been just as simple, using quarterback talent and depth as my main guide. The backups will get the bulk of the playing time again this week, so I am mostly focusing on them. My posting record on Twitter so far this preseason is 10-5, but this is my first article breaking down the picks so we will clean the slate and start at 0-0 with NFL Preseason Week 2 Picks.

The more you watch the better off you will be. That goes for both picking games and in fantasy football in general. This is why we should watch the preseason just like we watch the regular season. All times are in EST time zone.

Kansas City Chiefs @ Arizona Cardinals

Friday 8:00

Arizona +3

I’m not sure how long Patrick Mahomes or Kyler Murray will play, but I doubt it will be enough to make a big difference here. I will take the home team here with Colt McCoy and Tebow-light Chris Streveler over Chad Henne and the rest of Kansas City’s backup quarterbacks.

Cincinatti Bengals @ Washington Football Team

Friday 8:00

Washington -5.5

Ryan Fitzpatrick, Taylor “Heineken, Hen Rock” Heinicke, and Kyle Allen. This is a formidable quarterback trio the Skins are throwing out there. Meanwhile, Joe Burrow will not play and Cincy will throw out Brandon Allen, Kyle Shurmur, and Eric Dungey. Give me the former group over the insurance salesmen.

Buffalo Bills @ Chicago Bears

Saturday 1:00 PM

Chicago -4.5

Andy Dalton says Justin Fields is going to have a great career, but this is his time. I think he’s talking about the preseason. Either way, Dalton is going to give it everything he’s got, Fields looked great last week and throw Super Bowl MVP Nick “Folgers in your Cup” Foles behind that and you have a winning cup of coffee. Josh Allen will not play, so it will be Mitch Trubisky, Jake Fromm, and Davis Webb for Buffalo.

Green Bay Packers @ New York Jets

Saturday 4:25

New York -2.5

Packers backup Jordan Love is unlikely to play and I doubt the Packers will play Rodgers much this week if at all. I will gladly take Zach Wilson, Mike White, and Josh Johnson over the Packers 3rd and 4th stringers.

Baltimore Ravens @ Carolina Panthers

Saturday 7:00

Carolina +3

P.J. Walker should get a good amount of playing time once again and he’s a step above the Ravens backup quarterbacks. He also looked really solid last week against the Colts. Especially without Trace McSorley, who is out for the remainder of the preseason. I’ll take the points.

Tennessee Titans @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Saturday 7:30

Under 35

Blaine Gabbert, Kyle Trask, and Ryan Griffin over Logan Woodside and Matt Barkley. That’s all you really need to know about in this one.

Houston Texans @ Dallas Cowboys

Saturday 8:00

Under 37

Tyrod Taylor, Davis Mills taking on Garrett Gilbert, Ben Dinucci, and Cooper Rush. Nothing worse than rooting for an under, except in the preseason. I believe the unders are now at 15-2 this preseason.

Indianapolis Colts @ Minnesota Vikings

Saturday 8:00

Indianapolis +2.5, Under 38

Texans rookie Sam “Do you have to let it linger” Ehlinger will play like this is the Super Bowl. Remember this song?

Consistency Score Home

Consistency Score: Running Backs

Consistency Score: Wide Receivers

Consistency Score: Tight Ends

Consistency Score: DST

Las Vegas Raiders @ Los Angeles Rams

Saturday 10:00

Raiders -6.5, Under 35

Remember when people said Develin “Duck” Hodges was better than Josh Allen? I would seriously reconsider taking any further advice from those people. This is a hefty spread but I will ride with Marcus Mariota and Nathan Peterman to get it done against the Rams. Plus, this game is on NFL Network, so we need some action.

Denver Broncos @ Seattle Seahawks

Saturday 10:00

Denver -5

Seattle’s backup Gino Smith suffered out a concussion last week, so he’s out. It’s Sean Mannion and some Uncle Ricos against Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater who are battling for the starting job. Give me Denver.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ New Orleans Saints

Monday 8:00

Jaguars +4, Over 39

Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill vs. Trevor Lawrence and Gardner Minshew. Going deeper, Former Bronco starter Trevor Simien and Notre Dame rookie Ian Book vs. former 49ers starter C.J. Beathard and Jake Luton. I’ll take the points with the Jags and expect over 40 points with all these experienced QB’s.
