Rome Odunze Fantasy 2024 Outlook – Year 1 Expectations

0

The 2024 fantasy football season is quickly approaching, and many drafts will be taking place within the next couple of weeks. Before you participate in your draft, you will need to do some player analysis and/or cheat sheets. A player who is probably on your radar is rookie wide receiver Rome Odunze. Today, we’ll take a look at the Rome Odunze fantasy football outlook for 2024 and beyond.

What can we expect out of the rookie in his first year in the NFL? Can Odunze be productive, in a crowded offense in Chicago? Or will he struggle like Jaxon Smith-Njigba did last season with the Seattle Seahawks?

In this article, we’ll dive into Odunze’s 2024 fantasy football value, analyzing last year’s performance in college, his current team dynamics, and his potential for the upcoming season. We’ll explore his strengths and potential red flags. Whether you’re contemplating drafting him or trading for him in your dynasty league, this comprehensive analysis will help you make an informed decision whether to have Odunze on your fantasy football squads or not.

WR Rome Odunze Fantasy Football Outlook

Odunze was the third wide receiver drafted in the 2024 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears. Only Marvin Harrison Jr. with the 4th overall pick by the Arizona Cardinals and Malik Nabers, the 5th overall pick by the New York Giants were picked ahead of Odunze.

Last year with the Washington Huskies, Odunze totaled almost 1,600 yards and 14 touchdowns. Odunze’s talent and skill are without question. At 6’3 and 212 pounds, he has the size and strength to be an alpha receiver in the NFL. He is a big-bodied receiver who can win the ball in the air and has all the makings of being a top “X” receiver in the league. Despite a crowded receiving room, Odunze can still have a successful NFL career.

Rome Odunze Fantasy Football Outlook (2024)

With the Bears, Odunze finds himself as one of three wide receivers who will be vying for targets this upcoming season. D.J. Moore is the only incumbent receiver, but the Bears traded for veteran receiver Keenan Allen from the Los Angeles Chargers during the offseason.

With Odunze, the Bears have one of the best, if not the best trio of wide receivers in the league. This is good for real football but not necessarily for fantasy football. There are a lot of mouths to feed in the Bears offense and Odunze will struggle for targets and consistent production all year long.

Rome Odunze Dynasty Football Outlook

For dynasty fantasy football purposes, Odunze has a very solid future. Odunze’s dynasty ADP is WR15 on FantasyPros. Notably, one spot ahead of DeVonta Smith and one behind Brandon Aiyuk. Ultimately, he is a more desired player and asset for dynasty leagues than redraft leagues.

Allen’s contract expires at the end of the season. Hopefully, this leaves only Odunze and Moore as the main wide receivers competing for the majority of targets with the Bears. Odunze and fellow rookie quarterback and first-overall pick Caleb Williams will be controlling and dominating the Bears’ air attack for years to come.

Rome Odunze Fantasy Football – Final Thoughts

Don’t let the fact that Odunze was the third receiver taken in this year’s draft fool you. If Odunze came out last year, he would have been arguably the first wide receiver taken in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Odunze’s redraft ADP is WR42 which is a mid-range WR4. However, he has done nothing but impress this offseason. There will be some spike weeks this year that will show you his immense talent and potential, and why he was a high first-round pick.

The difficulty will be in determining when those games will happen. With Allen, Moore, Cole Kmet, and D’Andre Swift competing for targets, it will be difficult for Odunze to get enough looks to be a factor in fantasy on a weekly basis.

Odunze’s time as a WR1 in fantasy football is coming – just not this year.
