Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Week 15 Fantasy Football
Week 15 is here and the fantasy football playoffs are kicking off. If you’ve made it this far, congratulations. However, if you’re thinking about the 2023 rookies and next year, we’ve got you covered with our dynasty content.
More importantly, winning a fantasy football championship is what we care about right now. Here are some players you might consider starting or sitting on your fantasy football teams this week. Continue reading for our advice on which players to target or avoid in Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Week 15 Fantasy Football.
Quarterbacks
Start ‘Em
Mike White, New York Jets
Mike White earned my respect last week with his play against the Buffalo Bills. White was getting battered by the Bills’ defense, left the game twice, and continued to come back. His new nickname should be Rocky, from the number of rib shots he was taking and getting back up again. White is putting up 317 yards and one touchdown per game, these are adequate starting quarterback numbers. Playing the Lions this week, who are giving up over 23 points per game with a 10.63 consistency score, makes this a good start.
Daniel Jones, New York Giants
Washington has been a tough out for opposing passing games by allowing just one quarterback to surpass 223 passing yards. However, agile quarterbacks like Marcus Mariota and Justin Fields have had success with rushing days of 49 and 88 yards, respectively. Just two weeks ago, Jones ran for 71 yards against them. If you felt the injury bug last week, Jones is here to relieve that irritation in Week 15.
Sit ‘Em
Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins
Tua Tagovailoa has made a believer out of many this year, but honestly with those weapons around him and his play caller, many quarterbacks would look great. It also looks like the defenses around the league are starting to catch up with the Dolphins. The Chargers played press man against the Dolphins 35% of the time for the second most they faced all season. By playing press man, they disrupted the Dolphins’ timing and Tagovailoa had a hard time adjusting only throwing for 145 yards.
When did the Dolphins face the highest amount of press man? In Week 3 against the Bills where he only passed for 186 yards. It’s going to be cold, snowy, and loud in Buffalo on Saturday and Tagovailoa is going to have a rough night. You might not have a choice, but my advice would be to avoid him in your fantasy football lineups this week.
Derek Carr, Las Vegas Raiders
In Week 14, Derek Carr was handed a beautifully wrapped gift in the form of the Rams’ defense. Well, he took that gift, threw it in a woodchipper, and set it on fire. Now, facing a daunting New England secondary that is allowing the second-lowest completion rate and has the fifth most interceptions, things aren’t getting any better. For the sake of your championship dreams, find a different quarterback this week. You’d be better of grabbing White off the waiver wire.
Running Backs
Start ‘Em
Isiah Pacheco, Kansas City Chiefs
There are certain defenses that you can just keep playing running backs against and the Houston Texans are one of them. They are giving up nearly 30 points per game to opposing running backs, which just about leads the NFL. The Chiefs have also been using Pacheco on about 47% of all snaps, which is enough to consider him the lead back in Kansas City. He had 93 total yards last week against a tough Broncos defense, so he should see much more space to create plays this week against the Texans.
Zonovan Knight, New York Jets
This late in the season, the freshest legs tend to get work. When those legs are averaging 15.3 carries and five yards per rush, you get that player in your starting lineup. Zonovan Knight may be that running back who could help you win some fantasy championships this year. The Lions come to town having surrendered the second-most rushing scores (19) and third-most yards per carry (5.02). Knight has earned the privilege to be on your starting fantasy roster.
Sit ‘Em
Najee Harris, Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers offense and Najee Harris have had a forgettable season. For such a highly touted player, he’s been a very touchdown-dependent player this season. This is probably more a team-related issue than the player, but he’s ranked 15th in consistency score at 4.81. He’s averaging 11 fantasy points per game, and that is skewed greatly with a week 11 performance against the Bengals where he rushed for 90 yards, had 26 receiving yards, and scored two touchdowns. This week he faces the Panthers, who are tough against the run only giving up 6.22 fantasy points per game to running backs. I’m not expecting much from Harris this week.
Kenneth Walker, Seattle Seahawks
The groundwork was just laid, but I have to compound it with authority. The trap is that Kenneth Walker is an elite, young talent that we all want to start, badly. After all, he helped a lot of us get to this point. It’s the Thursday night game, against the toughest run defense in the league and Walker will not be 100% healthy. Honestly, the Seahawks should let him rest and keep him off of the field for another week.
Wide Receivers
Start ‘Em
Mike Williams, Los Angeles Chargers
I don’t think anyone would have faulted you if you held Mike Williams out of your lineup last week, with it being his first week back after another injury. However, he had himself a welcome-back party hauling in six receptions for 116 yards and a touchdown. This week you HAVE to have him in your lineup in a juicy matchup against Tennessee. The Titans are giving up nearly 42 points per game to opposing wide receivers, and Williams should explode.
Parris Campbell, Indianapolis Colts
Parris Campbell might seem like more of a deeper choice for this list, but you’re going to want to start him this Saturday. The Vikings have more holes in their secondary than a block of swiss cheese at a firing range. Over the last three games, opposing wide receivers have caught 53 balls for 770 receiving yards (that’s 14.7 yards per reception).
On top of that, the Minnesota offense can seemingly score at will, forcing the Colts to go to the air. Furthermore, the pass rush coming at Matt Ryan will compel him to get the ball out quickly to Campbell, who specializes in the short passing game. Start Campbell as he’ll have more catches than Michael Pittman this week.
Sit ‘Em
DeVonta Smith, Philadelphia Eagles
This might be a bit of a stretch, but I feel like the Eagles taking on the Bears this week can be a bit of a trap game. The Bears were playing a little bit better the last few weeks before their bye week, and the Eagles have a huge matchup next week against the Cowboys. The Bears have been very good against the pass this season with a second-lowest D-PAC Score of 11.57, with only the elite wide receivers scoring well against them. So A.J. Brown might have a big game, but I think DeVonta Smith will struggle this week.
Gabe Davis, Buffalo Bills
Gabe Davis has all the talent in the world to be a high-profile receiver for years to come. However, inconsistency and Mother Nature are taking him out of all of my fantasy lineups this week. Since the Week 7 bye, Davis has tallied more than 70 receiving yards once and caught less than four passes in four of those games. With the impending winter storm on the horizon, passing attempts are assuredly going to take a hit in favor of the higher percentage rushing plays. Even the Dolphins juicy D-PAC rating can’t save Davis this week.
Tight Ends
Start ‘Em
Greg Dulcich, Denver Broncos
It’s not like Dulcich has been good, but this start probably depends on Russell Wilson starting. He has been a serviceable tight end this season with a score of 2 for Consistency. Consistency aside, that’s not exactly blowing anyone’s doors off. However, neither is the Arizona Cardinals’ defense against tight ends giving up over 18 points per game. Start your tight ends against the Cardinals as they’re historically awful at defending the position.
David Njoku, Cleveland Browns
In his last two games, David Njoku has caught 12 passes for 88 yards and two scores. Those are solid tight end numbers in fantasy football. The Ravens have given up more than 70 yards or a touchdown to a tight end in eight games this season, including 71 yards to Njoku back in Week 7. Since the start of the 2020 season, Njoku is averaging 12.6 yards per catch with either a score or more than 70 yards in three of those four games.
Sit ‘Em
Evan Engram, Jacksonville Jaguars
Engram had himself a game last week, catching 11 passes for 162 yards and two touchdowns. Don’t fall for the knee-jerk reaction of thinking that he’s going to explode for the remainder of the season. Engram has significant talent and can pop in the right circumstance, but not this week against the Cowboys who only give up 8 points per game to tight ends. It’s the playoffs, keep your cool and make good lineup decisions.
Cole Kmet, Chicago Bears
Bringing up another tight end with success in recent weeks, we have another one to avoid. After scoring five times in three games, Cole Kmet had cooled a bit before posting 72 yards in Week 14. Now, he and the Bears play host to the Eagles. Since Week 8, only one tight end has eclipsed 25 receiving yards in a game. You’re better off taking a shot with a tight end like Chigoziem Okonkwo or Hunter Henry this week.
