The Dallas Cowboys travel to New Orleans to play the Saints this week in a matchup of two teams looking to get back in the win column. The Cowboys are currently 4.5 point favorites in a game with a 47.5 total. For the Cowboys, Cedrick Wilson has been ruled out, while Malik Turner and Amari Cooper are listed as questionable. CeeDee Lamb was listed as a full participant in practice and is in line to play after clearing concussion protocols. For the Saints, Alvin Kamara has been ruled out. Also, Taysom Hill has been named the starting quarterback for the Saints.
MVP Plays
Dak Prescott ($16,500)
Dak Prescott comes into this game averaging 18.9 FanDuel points per game. He has hit 20 or more points in all but 3 games, with one of those games being 19.88 FanDuel points. Prescott has averaged 302 passing yards per game with 2.2 touchdowns per game. The Saints defense gives up the 5th most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks at 20.4 per game. Prescott projects as the highest scorer on the slate making him an ideal MVP play.
Taysom Hill ($7,000)
The Saints have named Taysom Hill as their new starting quarterback after Trevor Siemian struggled to get the Saints on the right track. While Hill is not an elite passer, he runs the ball at a high rate. His salary is way too cheap for a starting quarterback and I expect him to be close to 100% owned, but there is no way to avoid the chalk. Playing him in the MVP spot may be a little bit different and his rushing upside gives him a nice floor and ceiling to be the optimal MVP.
Flex Options
CeeDee Lamb ($13,000) & Dalton Schultz ($9,500)
When rostering Dak Prescott as your MVP you certainly want to pair him with at least one of his pass-catchers. Both Lamb and Schultz make for good options. Lamb has posted a 50-740-6 line so far this season and is a huge part of this Cowboys offense. The Saints defense gives up the 5th most FanDuel points per game to opposing wide receivers at 31.1 per contest. Amari Cooper is still battling an illness, and if he were to miss it would give Lamb an even bigger role within the offense. Dalton Schultz has played a nice role for the Cowboys this season when one of the wide receivers is out. If Amari Cooper gets ruled out in this game, going to Schultz would be a priority. Schultz is averaging over four catches per game and just under 50 yards per game.
Mark Ingram ($12,000)
With Alvin Kamara ruled out, Mark Ingram has will serve as the Saint’s top back. Ingram will get a heavy workload on the ground and a sizeable pass-catching role. As the starting running back Ingram has averaged 15 carries per game with an additional 5 catches. Given the Saint’s run-first approach, getting to Ingram and his volume is a priority.
Tre’Quan Smith ($9,000)
While this will be a scary play with Taysom Hill starting, but Smith has made strides this season as a pass-catcher. Over his last three games, he has received 20 targets and caught 13 passes with one touchdown. The Cowboys have given up the 7th most FanDuel points per game to opposing wide receivers at over 31 points per game. With his recent uptick in volume, the Cowboy’s weak pass defense, and his low ownership Smith will make for a nice play.
