Tom Brady Returns to Tampa Bay for 23rd NFL Season
After 40 days of retirement, Tom Brady has announced that he will in fact not be retiring from the NFL. The seven-time Super Bowl champion announced his retirement from football less than two months ago and abruptly decided to Tweet about “Unfinished business”:
These past two months I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands. That time will come. But it’s not now. I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. They make it all possible. I’m coming back for my 23rd season in Tampa. Unfinished business LFG pic.twitter.com/U0yhRKVKVm

This is obviously a massive boost for the entire offense, mainly his pass-catchers in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. The Buccaneers recently franchise-tagged Godwin and are still reportedly trying to get a long-term deal finalized. As for the rest of the pass-catchers, the only tight end under contract is Cameron Brate with Rob Gronkowski and OJ Howard both free agents.
This news comes the day before NFL free agency when teams are permitted to contact players and finalize deals. Monday, March 14th at 4:00 PM EST teams can begin signing players, and the Buccaneers currently have 24 free agents. The cap situation is tight, but now with Brady returning, you’ll likely see some veterans return for a lower amount just to win with Brady for another season. I expect Gronkowski will return as well, despite recent talks of Buffalo or Cincinnati as he is one of the 24 free agents.
