Top 10 Best Fantasy Football Performances of All Time
Throughout the years, we’ve seen some amazing fantasy football performances. Today, I’ll be breaking down the top 10 best fantasy football performances of all time. Undoubtedly, some will stick with us more than others pending on who was on the giving or receiving side of these phenomenal performances. In many cases, these single-game performances single-handedly carried owners to either a victory or brought a crushing defeat.
Now, we all remember Joe Mixon’s performance last season. While it was a great game, I was on the receiving end and was dealt a massive loss. Likewise, I was also on the victory end of Jamaal Charles back in 2013, which ended up leading me to another fantasy football championship. Will these rank among the best performances?
Even though many sites are basing their performances on standard scoring, the times are changing. After all, more fantasy football leagues are going to some form of PPR scoring. Your league settings could be different with bonuses and whatnot. While I know about Jerry Rice‘s game in 1990 which equivalates to 65.5 PPR points along with Jimmy Smith and Jerry Butler‘s top games, they did not make this list.
Here we will be using StatMuse and its PPR scoring, along with their top-10 performances of all time.
10. Jonathan Taylor, Week 11, 2021 (53.4 points)
Kicking off our top-10 here is Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor. While still a dominant game-changing force, nothing is a more memorable performance than what he did in Week 11 against the Buffalo Bills. Taylor had an amazing game carrying the ball 32 times for 185 yards and four touchdowns. Add to that three receptions for 19 yards and a receiving touchdown.
Finishing with 204 total yards and five total touchdowns resulting in 53.4 PPR points. Not only did he dominate this game, but also the season as he went on to finish as the RB1.
9. Will Fuller, Week 5, 2019 (53.7 points)
With the many ups and downs in Will Fuller’s NFL career, he makes the top 10 with his best career performance. The former Notre Dame product punished the Atlanta Falcons for 14 receptions for an astonishing 217 yards and three touchdowns. For as great of a game this was, it was the only touchdown for the season for him in 2019. Ultimately, Fuller would go on to finish as WR53 for the season.
8. Joe Mixon, Week 9, 2022 (55.1 points)
The most recent performance to us comes in here at No.8. Certainly, we all remember how Joe Mixon destroyed the Carolina Panthers as he carried the ball 22 times for 153. Adding to that four receptions for 58 yards with five total touchdowns.
Mixon had many ups and downs during the 2022 season, but this one stands out. Despite this monster performance, Mixon never saw more than 16 carries for the rest of the season. Furthermore, he added one more touchdown.
7. Doug Martin, Week 9, 2012 (55.2 points)
If Week 8 in 2012 wasn’t a coming-out party for Doug Martin, then his Week 9 was. The Amazon Prime deal of the day was the muscle hamster delivered that Sunday. Martin rushed the ball 25 times for an astonishing 251 yards and four touchdowns along with four receptions and another 21 yards. While going out with a bang having 272 total yards for the day, Martin rushed for 200 yards alone in the second half. Add to that three of his four touchdowns were runs of 45-plus yards.
6. Chris Johnson, Week 2, 2009 (55.4 points)
In a 34-31 loss to the Houston Texans, Chris Johnson was creating havoc. Not only did he rush for 197 yards, but he also dominated in the receiving game catching nine balls (11 targets)for another 87 yards and three total touchdowns. In Johnson’s scoring drives, he had a rushing touchdown of 57 yards, a receiving touchdown of 69 yards, and a receiving touchdown of 91 yards. Johnson would go on to rush for 2,006 yards and have 2,509 all-purpose yards for the season giving him the nickname CJ2K.
5. Ja’Marr Chase, Week 17, 2021 (55.6 points)
What a rookie season it was for Ja’Marr Chase turning 81 receptions into 1,455 yards and 13 touchdowns. His best game of the season came in the 2021 fantasy football championship where Chase caught 11 balls for 266 yards and three touchdowns. It was Chase’s second 200-plus yard receiving game as he re-wrote the record book for most receiving yards by a rookie in a game.
4. Alvin Kamara, Week 16, 2020 (56.2 points)
Before there was the addition of another week added to the NFL schedule, Alvin Kamara delivered his best performance on Christmas day. As cousin Eddie from Christmas Vacation would say, “Clark, that’s the gift that keeps on giving the whole year”. Leading many to fantasy football titles or defeats, Kamara would go on to rush for six touchdowns all while carrying the ball 22 times for 155 yards.
3. Clinton Portis, Week 14, 2003 (57.4 points)
The late ’90s and early 2000s were quite the time for Denver Broncos’ running backs. In his second NFL season, Clinton Portis would rush the ball 22 times for 218 yards, adding two catches for 36 yards and five total touchdowns. Portis had two goal-line touchdowns along with three more of 59,28 and 53 yards. Going on to finish as the RB6 in fantasy that season with 290 rushes, 1,591 yards, and 14 touchdowns.
2. Tyreek Hill, Week 12, 2020 (57.9 points)
With a favorable matchup against a porous Tampa Bay Buccaneers secondary, Tyreek Hill had himself a day in Week 12 of 2020. Finishing with 13 catches (15 targets) for 269 yards and three touchdowns, it was a first half to remember. Hill was the first wide receiver since Lee Evans to record 200 receiving yards in one quarter, which he did in the first quarter of the game.
While Hill would top it off in the third quarter with a 20-yard touchdown reception, the thought of a 400-yard game was out of the question. This game alone pushed Hill way ahead of any other wide receiver for the top wide receiver in the league. As a result, he would go on to be the WR1 in fantasy football for 2020.
1. Jamaal Charles, Week 15, 2013 (59.5 points)
The JC of KC, Jamaal Charles had a fantasy performance that I know I’ll never forget. While struggling to run the ball (eight attempts, 20 yards, one touchdown), Charles excelled in the receiving game. Furthermore, he caught all eight of his targets for 195 yards, 7th all-time for running backs while accumulating four more touchdowns. Earning himself at the top of the list. Additionally, Charles would finish as the top running back in fantasy football in 2013.
