Top Fantasy Baseball Prospects To Stash In 2024
Jackson Holliday, SS, Baltimore Orioles (NFC ADP – 200)
The number one overall prospect Jackson Holliday was invited to Oriole camp and was announced he would be seeing time at 2B to add to his SS eligibility. Holliday is the universal number one prospect and should break camp on day one with the team. His ADP current is 200, but the moment it is announced he makes the team, expect that to potentially rise to the top 100. Holliday hits for average and double stolen base potential. Last season in the minors he hit .323 with 12 home runs and 24 stolen bases last season in the minor leagues.
Jackson Chourio, OF, Milwaukee Brewers (NFC ADP – 155)
Similar to Jackson Holliday, another universal top prospect is already expected to make an impact this season. Jackson Chourio is expected to make the opening day roster with the Brewers after signing an eight-year $82 million extension. His ADP of 155 reflects the team’s confidence in him being with the team on day one. Chourio is still 19 and will be 20 in March. Last season he his .324 with 11 home runs and 21 steals in 57 games in AA and AAA. His ceiling is very high and he has the potential to be a major fantasy contributor right away, especially in the stolen base category.
Wyatt Langford, OF, Texas Rangers (NFC ADP – 154)
Going right before Jackson Chourio, Wyatt Langford is another prospect favored to make the Opening Day roster. The fourth pick in the 2023 draft has ascended through the team’s Minor League system and is now a favorite to make the team’s Opening Day roster. He debuted in AAA before season’s end and that rapid rise seems to continue. From July on in Minor leagues, he combined for .360 with 10 home runs and 12 stolen bases. The Rangers could opt to start him in AAA depending on how his Spring goes. However, even if that were to happen, I’d expect him up by May/June at the latest.
Evan Carter, OF, Texas Rangers (NFC ADP – 123)
Yet another top prospect and Texas Ranger, Evan Carter debuted last season for the Rangers and made his presence known in the postseason hitting a home run and batting over .300. In the regular season he hit five home runs and batted in 12 RBIs to go along with a .306 average and three stolen bases. He has the tools to be a 20-20 player right away. His ADP probably will climb a bit as the spring comes, but Carter is going to be a great asset to any team that drafts him.
Noelvi Marte, 3B, Cincinatti Reds (NFC ADP – 163)
A popular pick among the fantasy baseball community is Noelvi Marte of the Cincinnati Reds. Currently going 163 in ADP, Marte is expected to break out this season. The only issue is playing time. The Reds have a logjam in their infield with Elly De La Cruz, Christian Encarnacion-Stand, Jeimer Candelario, Jonathan India, and Matt McLain. There remains the possibility of a Jonathan India trade, but for now, they have a lot of talent in the infield.
Marte debuted last season having 114 at bats, just missing the 130 threshold to graduate prospect status. Marte batted .316 with three home runs and 15 RBIs. He stole six bases as well. Marte has both power and speed potential and 20/20 is not out of the question, maybe even higher. His ADP of 163 is a little later than a few prospects, but this is a great pick. The only issue as I mentioned is the playing time. For now, he may not see every day at bats right away, but in time he should.
Colt Keith, 2B/3B, Detroit Tigers (NFC ADP – 346)
The first great value pick of this article is Colt Keith, who the Tigers signed to a six-year 28.64 million dollar extension and is expected to be the team’s opening day 2B. Keith hit over .300 in the minors to go with 27 home runs. He has experience at both 2B and 3B which could add him eligibility down the line at both. Keith is a great addition in deeper formats such as 15-team drafts or AL-only leagues. If Keith puts together a solid spring, that ADP of 346 should rapidly rise.
Tyler Black, 3B, Milwaukee Brewers (NFC ADP – 356)
Last season we saw Esteury Ruiz steal 67 bases in his rookie season. With the new pickoff rules last season and the increased size of bases, we saw stolen bases take a major uptick last season. Someone I like late in drafts this year who could be a major steals contributor is Tyler Black.
Black was the 33rd pick in the 2021 draft. He stole 55 bases last season. Unlike Ruiz, Black has a bit of power that he can tap into. Black has double-digit home run ability and could have the potential to bat over .300. This is an outstanding late-round pick that has serious upside. Right now he will be battling in spring for the opening day 3B job or could find his way into the occasional 1B start when Rhys Hoskins sits (or maybe traded at the deadline?).
Kyle Harrison, SP, San Francisco Giants (NFC ADP – 270)
Kyle Harrison debuted in 2023 and started seven games. He threw 34.2 innings and had a 4.15 ERA with 35 strikeouts and a quality start. Harrison pitches in a pitcher’s park in San Francisco. Harrison has a lot of strikeout upside, but will just need to control his walks. He did a good job of that in his 2023 season with a 1.15 WHIP. If he can control that and keep up the strikeout numbers, he makes for a great addition in deeper formats and will most likely be an early waiver wire addition in shallower leagues.
