Welcome back to another look at the 2025 NFL Draft in this edition of Scouting the Nation. As the college football season approaches, the 2025 NFL Draft will certainly be on our minds. Whether you’re a hardcore fantasy football manager or an avid football fan, we’ve got you covered. In this series, Scouting the Nation, we highlight top players to look out for in the upcoming draft class.
The Top FCS Prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft
Charles Grant OT William & Mary
Every year, it seems like there is a top-100 pick at offensive tackle from the FCS level. There is always one standout superstar, whether it would be Dillon Radunz, Trevor Penning, or Kiran Amegadjie. This year, that prospect is Charles Grant.
For starters, Grant is an elite-level athlete. His foot quickness is phenomenal, and he is incredibly fluid. Notably, defenders really struggled to win the outside track against him. Grant is fast on the move and takes great angles in space. He will be perfect for a zone-heavy run scheme. Additionally, his length is off the charts, and Grant should be near the top of the NFL Combine testing for offensive tackles.
Profile-wise, he is similar to Terron Armstead, who also came from the FCS level and has developed into one of the best players in the NFL. In a weaker tackle class, Grant should hear his name called early.
Joshua Farmer DT Florida State
Another top prospect to keep an eye on at the NFL Draft will be the talented defensive tackle from Port St. Joe, Florida. Florida State is quickly becoming a defensive line factory, and Joshua Farmer looks next up after recording five sacks last season. Farmer displays really good bend on film, with the ability to dip under guards and get to the quarterback.
In terms of strength, Farmer can overwhelm linemen with his power. Additionally, his bullrush was effective, and Farmer can shed blockers with ease. He had several wins against Clemson, where he just tossed the guard aside. That strength also showed up in the run game. Having bend and power is a hard combo to find, and Farmer has both.
Furthermore, his effort is also excellent. Farmer had several chase-down pressures and quarterback hits, where he used his speed to disrupt the quarterback. With Jared Verse off to the NFL, Florida State will need Farmer to be the go-to guy next season. His traits and non-stop effort make him a potential breakout star who could also be an All-American. All things considered, there is certainly first-round upside with Farmer.
