Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator: Mike Riley and Steve Smith

Riley has been a coach forever with all sorts of teams and leagues.  Riley teams seem to be all over the place with some years being more pass-heavy and some years being more balanced.  This kind of tells me that he is going to go with whatever is best for his team (despite not being a super successful coach).  With the way they drafted, I think they lean more of a run-heavy approach.

Roster

Quarterbacks: De’Andre Johnson and Luis Perez

The guy who was going to be their starter in Ben Holmes injured his foot and is going to miss the season. That led to the signing of Luis Perez.  Perez is a much better passer than Johnson. Johnson is a freak athlete though. The guy can just ball. His problem is that he isn’t consistent as a passer and the guy always has off-field issues going on. There will be a battle here for the starting spot.

Perez is my pick to come out on top here. I don’t necessarily think he lights up the league but I think he can provide consistent quarterback play for the Generals.

Running backs: Mike Weber, Trey Williams, and Darius Victor

The running back position is by far the General’s best position. They are loaded here with Weber and Williams being a sweet 1-2 punch. Victor is no slouch either, being the 5th leading rusher in the XFL. Both Weber and Williams will split the majority of the touches in this backfield with Weber being more of the bruiser and Williams being used more in passing situations but still being able to provide meaningful carries on the ground.

Wide Receivers: Kavontae Turpin, J’Mon Moore, Darrius Shepherd, Randy Satterfield, Alonzo Moore, and Cameron Echols-Luper

Moore and Satterfield will be the guys who probably line up outside as they have the most size in this wide receiver core. Moore had two 1,000+ yard seasons at Mizzou with 18 total touchdowns those two years. He also has some NFL experience. Turpin and Shepherd will fight for time in the slot. I’d assume Turpin would be the main slot guy as he was taken 1st at wide receiver for the Generals.

I think J’Mon Moore will be the WR1 here with Turpin being the second option.  Moore should catch some touchdowns for the Generals

Tight Ends: Nick Truesdell and Braedon Bowman

Both of these guys are good tight ends. Both can block and catch well and have a good amount of experience. Truesdell does have an edge with 11 years of Pro experience under his belt. He is also a monster of a man at 6’6 250 pounds. Truesdell will start and be a valuable weapon in the red zone for the Generals. Don’t sleep on Bowman either though, I could see him putting up some numbers as well.
