Waiver Wire Pickups for IDP Fantasy Football Leagues, Week 9
We’re bringing on some of the most notable IDP waiver wire pickups for fantasy football leagues in Week 9. And there could be NFL players who should or could be available at different format levels each week. Allowing us to either start them in Week 9 or stash them on your bench for next time. Or simple enough, if we have the room or the expendables on our benches. We can get ahead and stack our depth deeper if at all possible for the fantasy football season long haul.
Waiver Wire Pickups for IDP Fantasy Football Leagues
ILB – Nakobe Dean – PHI
WK9 – Strong -DAL
WK10 – Bye Week
WK11 – Solid @KAN
After a lot of anticipation that Nakobe Dean would be the leader of the Eagles in his second year. It just may actually be happening after an early injury had him sidelined. And only then to be eased back in the first three contests in a rotation led by Zach Cuningham after returning. Dean finally looked to take the lion’s share of the snaps and production over in Week 8. And finally by-passed splitting snaps with Nicholas Morrow by leading the way 70% to 30%. All things considered, he’s worth one of the top waiver wire pickups for your IDP leagues.
Furthermore, Dean didn’t disappoint versus Washington, recording 12 combined tackles and two for a loss. He also flashed at times and will keep improving. Yet, we’re not so sure at what point the Eagles may or may not give Dean a full 100% of the snaps. Although versus the idea this could be a season-long ILB1, we’re all in versus the Cowboys in Week 9. Especially when Dallas has been a top 5 inside linebacker matchup so far this season.
Week 9 IDP Rolling Waiver Wire Pickups
SAF – Jordan Whitehead – NYJ
SAF – Tony Adams – NYJ
WK9 – Strong -LAC
WK10 – Solid @LVR
WK11 – Solid @BUF
The Jets’ safety tandem isn’t getting much playing time with IDP managers so far this year. Jordan Whitehead started out well enough but then ran into a couple of tougher contests a few weeks back. Hence, he’s likely around some of the more standard formats and could be available. As for Tony Adam’s availability, he is likely hanging around in even more leagues. After an injury sidelined him for a couple of weeks early on he’s just now getting back on track.
Furthermore, both are certainly capable and have shown strong signs of holding up when the matchups are right. The Los Angeles Chargers are top 10 matchup coming to town in Week 9 and kick off a solid three-game stretch. And with Whitehead and Adams both hitting their averages via past matchup strengths. Their odds are hot in this contest they’ll show up strong. However, if we are thinking of any upside, Adams has a touch more appeal. Whitehead should be on more rosters, but per snap is trailing Adam’s tackle rate by a small margin. So, Adams should be the better Week 9 waiver wire bargain in most fantasy league formats.
OLB/DE – Boye Mafe – SEA
OLB/DE – Darrell Taylor – SEA
WK9 – Solid @BAL
WK10 – Strong -WAS
WK11 – Solid @LAR
The timing of Uchenna Nwosu going down and landing on the IR in Week 7. Along with the timing of the plus positive schedule leaves a huge window wide open in most formats. Boye Mafe and Darrel Taylor both have an opportunity here to make a statement. And both did manage to boost this thinking by over-performing this past week, but like most things. It’s not a lock yet.
The Seahawks brought back Frank Clark after he was released and still sitting on the open market. And now the rumors are flying that the Seahawks aren’t done ahead of the trade deadline. Even as far as reporting that the Jets and Carl Lawson could be a topic, or is one. So as it sits, picking up either Mafe or Taylor right now is a little risky. That’s if we believe that Pete Carroll won’t end up doing something that restarts a rotation again. Which has been a huge part of the problem in the past with getting any consistency out of this unit before. It’s just something to keep in mind when setting that dollar amount in waiver wire bidding.
