Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 7 - Deep Dive Fantasy Football

Welcome back to another edition of our deep dive waiver wire pickups for your fantasy football leagues. These players are mainly for targetting in your deeper leagues of 14+ teams. However, plenty should be relevant in any of your leagues out there.

While everyone is placing waivers for the top names, often some names go completely missed through the first round of waivers. This allows you not to waste a waiver claim and add the player right away. Overall, this list should have some of those players, especially in your deeper fantasy football leagues.

Week 6 was a huge upset week. With the Browns and the Jets beating the 49ers and Eagles. When it comes to deeper fantasy football leagues, the waiver wire is minimal regarding the talent available. These players listed may or may not be available, and it may be worth grabbing early in the event they gain a starting role.

Deep Dive Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 7

Jordan Mason, RB, San Francisco 49ers (Sleeper Rostered 4%)
With Christian McCaffrey dealing with an oblique injury, it is unknown at this time if he is going to miss any games. Jordan Mason appears to be the main backup to CMC. Elijah Mitchell returned this game, but only two two rushes. Mason rushed five times for 27 yards and a touchdown. Mason would be a high-level flex option, or a low-end RB2 if CMC misses next week.
Craig Reynolds, RB, Detroit Lions (Sleeper Rostered 2%)
With David Montgomery leaving the game with a rib injury, and Jahymr Gibbs still out, Craig Reynolds saw the bulk of the rushes on Sunday. While he only rushed ten times for 15 yards, it does show he is viewed as a starter for them if Montgomery is out any time. Gibbs could return next week, but with Montgomery active, Gibbs wasn’t the primary rusher and could give time to Reynolds to be a low-end flex option.
Salvon Ahmed, RB, Miami Dolphins (Sleeper Rostered 17%)
De’Von Achane is out for several games, giving Raheem Mostert the lead rusher role. Mostert took the bulk of the carries, but Salvon Ahmed rushed the ball six times for 23 yards, but he did score a touchdown. Ahmed seems to be the main backup in Miami. Chris Brooks was one to keep an eye on, but he only rushed six times and mostly at the end of the game.
Kendrick Bourne, WR, New England Patriots (Sleeper Rostered 21%)
New England is searching for their WR1, and Kendrick Bourne seems to be getting a lot of volume in the offense. Bourne saw 11 targets against the Raiders, catching ten for 89 yards. While he didn’t break the 100-yard mark, if it is full-point PPR scoring, Bourne is in the double-digit mark for fantasy scoring. New England has been playing from behind for most of the season which could include more opportunities for passing downs.
Noah Brown, WR, Houston Texans (Sleeper Rostered 2%)
A potential deep-league addition is Noah Brown. Brown was activated off injured reserve and played on Sunday against the Saints. He caught two of five targets for 37 yards. With Tank Dell out, Brown saw time as the WR3 in the Houston offense. He is currently behind Dell, Nico Collins, and Robert Woods. Brown has a chance to be the long-term WR3 in this offense.
Rashid Shaheed, WR, New Orleans Saints (Sleeper Rostered 28%)
The Saints have Michael Thomas and Chris Olave as their top two wide receivers, but after that is Rashid Shaheed. Shaheed caught two of six passes Sunday for 85 yards and a touchdown. He caught receptions of 34 (touchdown) and 51 yards. Shaheed isn’t seeing full playing time, but he has three double-digit full-point PPR games this season.
Malik Cunningham, QB, New England Patriots (Sleeper Rostered 5%)
Not only did Malik Cunningham get called up to the active roster, but he also signed a three-year deal. Mac Jones‘ starting time in New England is on thin ice and Malik Cunningham seems to be the backup despite the talk of Will Grier. On Sunday, Grier was inactive, leaving Cunningham open to playing time. The Patriots are 1-5 and looking at Buffalo next. A QB change could be happening at some point soon.
Malik Willis, QB, Tennesee Titans (Sleeper Rostered 0%)
Ryan Tannehill left Sunday’s game in London with an ankle injury. Malik Willis took over for QB. With Tannehill’s status unknown, Willis is the next in line to start for the Titans. Willis completed 4 of 5 passes for 74 yards and rushed three times for 17 yards. He was sacked four times, but his mobility adds to his fantasy value and makes him an intriguing deep-league QB2 option if you need one.
Aaron Rodgers, QB, New York Jets (Sleeper Rostered 19%)
Aaron Rodgers was on the sideline Sunday throwing balls and with no crutches. He had a minimal limp and seemed to be ahead of his rehab. The question is, will he come back this season? If the Jets are in the playoff hunt, there is a chance that Rodgers will return right before the fantasy football playoffs. If you have an IR spot open, it wouldn’t be a bad thing to stash him right now.
Michael Mayer, TE, Las Vegas Raiders (Sleeper Rostered 12%)
We are finally seeing more action for Michael Mayer. He caught five of six targets for 75 yards on Sunday. He had 3 receptions in his first five games for 41 yards alone. Maybe the Raiders will get Mayer more involved in the offense, and for those in TE premium leagues or two tight end start leagues, Mayer makes for an intriguing addition.
Tyler Conklin, TE, New York Jets (Sleeper Rostered 14%)
Tyler Conklin has emerged as the TE1 in New York and seems to be the go-to for Zach Wilson. His stats Sunday weren’t anything of note (3 catches on four targets for 24 yards), but he has come close to every week’s double-digit full-point PPR points except a week or two.
