Fantasy Football – Start Of The Week

Kyle Pitts @ ARI

The rule for my start of the week is to go beyond the obvious and pick a tight end outside the top 12 FantasyPros consensus rankings. Facing off against the Arizona Cardinals, Kyle Pitts is my start of the week.

I feel like I’ve said this almost every week, but Pitts is a player who should be ranked inside the top 12 based on talent. However, Pitts was ranked 13th so, there are no obvious misses this week from the consensus rankings.

No one in the fantasy community is denying Pitts’s talent. Pitts had a historic rookie season, going for over 1,000 receiving yards, which is the most of any tight end in modern-day history. Pitts was also the highest-drafted tight end of all time at 4th overall.

The issue lies with his usage. Arthur Smith has proven himself to be one of the worst coaches in the NFL. Being forced to decide between Jonnu Smith and Pitts for that TE12 spot is an issue. That said, Pitts is still averaging 8.5 PPG this season, making him a low-end TE1

With the return of Kyler Murray, the Falcons are 1-point favorites against the Cardinals. This should be a close matchup, forcing the Falcons to utilize Pitts. The Cardinals have allowed the 19th most fantasy points to tight ends with 8.57 PPG, making this an average game script. Even though Pitts may not be an elite tight end right now, he still deserves to be a low-end TE1 every week.
