Fantasy Football – Start Of The Week
Amari Cooper @ BAL
The rule for my start of the week is to go beyond the obvious and pick a wide receiver outside the top 24 FantasyPros consensus rankings. Going up against the Baltimore Ravens, Amari Cooper is my start of the week.
Despite having a massive 24.9-point bounce-back performance in Week 9, Cooper is still ranked outside the top 24 wide receivers this week. This ranking doesn’t make much sense to me, as things are finally going Cooper’s way. Deshaun Watson has been banged up for most of the year but finally returned in Week 9.
Watson will be the key to success with Cooper, as you can’t expect any receiver to thrive with their backup. Last week, we saw Cooper catch five passes for 139 yards and a touchdown. This shouldn’t be a surprise, as we know how talented Cooper is. Rather than projecting Cooper to take a step back, I expect him to improve this week.
Unfortunately, the Browns play the Ravens as six-point underdogs. However, as we’ve seen in the past, being heavy favorites means softer coverages and more pass attempts. There’s no denying the Ravens have a good defense, but they’ve allowed the 4th most fantasy points to wide receivers, 41.13 PPG.
This doesn’t look like a great matchup on the surface, but once you dig into things it looks a lot more appealing. You shouldn’t expect a 25-point performance from Cooper again, but he deserves to be a mid-WR2 this week.
