Fantasy Football – Start Of The Week
Diontae Johnson @ Cleveland Browns
The rule for my start of the week is to go beyond the obvious and pick a wide receiver outside the top 24 FantasyPros consensus rankings. Going up against the Cleveland Browns, Diontae Johnson is my start of the week.
After scoring his first touchdown in almost two years, Diontae Johnson had an absolutely terrible game in Week 10. Scoring 2.7 points, Johnson almost immediately let down everyone who started warming up on him. That said, Johnson is still averaging 12.4 PPG on the season and deserves to be a top-24 WR.
Geroge Pickens is still seeing the field quite a bit, but tensions are rising in Pittsburgh. Pickens has had some attitude problems in the past, which affects his usage. However, Pickens could be severely punished on any given week, allowing Johnson to go nuts.
More importantly, Johnson is currently averaging 7.8 targets per game, including 14 during his week eight performance. Now, the Browns have allowed the 21 most fantasy points to wide receivers with 29.6 PPG. Notably, the Steelers are also four-point underdogs in this game. Kenny Pickett is going to be forced to throw a lot more down the stretch, helping out Johnson.
The kind of volume Johnson is getting right now is elite. We know this, and seeing him score a touchdown puts me at ease. Now, this is an atrocious Steelers offense; however, you have to commit to the volume of Johnson at a cheap cost.
