Quarterback – Start Of The Week
Deshaun Watson vs. BAL
The rule for my start of the week is to go beyond the obvious and pick a quarterback outside the top 12 FantasyPros consensus rankings for the week. Facing off against the Baltimore Ravens, Deshaun Watson is my start of the week.
Watson has had a rough start to the season, but it looked like he turned a corner in week three. Going up against the Tennessee Titans, Watson looked fantastic, scoring 21.2 fantasy points. This was by far Watson’s best game, as he completed 27/33 of his passes to go along with two touchdowns and no interceptions. Not to mention that Watson had 289 passing yards with a passer rating of 123.36.
We all know that Watson has upside through the roof. Before coming over to the Browns, Watson was a consensus top-five fantasy quarterback every year. If you’re playing in a 1QB league, Watson is one of the only quarterbacks in this range who can move the needle.
According to Odds Shark, the Browns are 1.5-point underdogs, which means it should be a close game. The Browns also have an implied team total of 21 points, according to RotoCurve, which projects that they’ll be a solid overall offense this last week. Most importantly, the Ravens have given up the 5th most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season, with 19.27 per game.
Although Watson has faced some injury concerns this week, it doesn’t seem like anything serious. Watson himself has said “I’m OK, I’ll play.” when asked about his status for Sunday. Assuming Watson is fully healthy, he should be viewed as a low-end QB1 this week.
