Tight End – Start Of The Week

Hunter Henry vs. NO

The rule for my start of the week is to go beyond the obvious and pick a tight end outside the top 12 FantasyPros consensus rankings. Going up against the New Orleans Saints, Hunter Henry is my start of the week.

Henry has been one of the biggest surprises this season but there’s no reason to move him outside the top 12. The tight end position is the most volatile position in fantasy football so when you find a player that’s consistent you shouldn’t bench him. All in all, this year Henry is averaging 11.6 PPG but is still being disrespected.

Furthermore, Henry is extremely involved in this offense, seeing the field on 84% of snaps. While Henry is a great blocker he has a 15% team target share which is very high for a tight end. This isn’t the same Patriots offense where target share didn’t matter due to the lack of opportunity. This year the Patriots have a new look and are currently 4th in passing attempts per game.

Facing off against the Saints, the Patriots are favored by 1.5 points according to Odds Shark. In what should be a close game, the Patriots will need to throw the ball and won’t have the luxury of running it every play in the second half. The bottom line is, Henry is a tight end who commands targets in a high-volume passing offense which makes him the start of the week.
