Fantasy Football – Start Of The Week
Jordan Addison vs. San Francisco 49ers
The rule for my start of the week is to go beyond the obvious and pick a wide receiver outside the top 24 FantasyPros consensus rankings. Going up against the San Francisco 49ers, Jordan Addison is my start of the week.
After Justin Jefferson went down, the hype for Jordan Addison was through the roof. However, things have died down after Addison didn’t pop in week six. Although Addison didn’t have a great game, scoring 11.8 points mainly from his touchdown, he still had five targets in a gross game script.
The 49ers have a great defense, but the passing volume in this Vikings offense should make up for it. You never love seeing a wide receiver going up against this 49ers secondary, but the game has an over/under of 44 points. I can easily see Addison going out and drawing ten targets, which will almost automatically make him a top-24 guy.
The Vikings are a bad team, but this doesn’t have all negative effects on pass catchers. While it’s frowned upon to like players from bad teams, it’s important to note that trailing in most games forces the offense to throw the ball more. This creates a positive game script for the wide receivers and force-feeds them the ball.
This example is very prevalent with the Vikings. Even though the team is 2-4, Kirk Cousins looks phenomenal and has thrown the ball 39.2 times per game. There’s no denying this is a tough matchup, but this passing volume should allow Addison to finish in the top 24.
