Will Levis – 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook

Will Levis - 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook

Quarterback – Kentucky

6’4” 231 lbs

2nd Round – 2nd Pick (33rd Overall) – Tennessee Titans

Pre-Draft Profile

The Titans came up from pick 41 to draft Will Levis 33rd overall after he fell out of the 1st Round on Thursday.

The Kentucky quarterback is coming off a down year compared to his 2021 season. Largely, this was due to injuries and a new offensive coordinator. Last year, he threw for 2,406 yards with 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Furthermore, he also added two touchdowns on the ground.

The year before, he had a much better season behind offensive coordinator Liam Coen before he left to coach for the Los Angeles Rams. There, he threw for 2,826 yards with 24 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. Additionally, also ran for 376 yards and scored nine rushing touchdowns, much more than his 2022 season.

Overall, Levis is a big quarterback with a quick release and a rocket for an arm. He has the tools to work with to become a starter in the league. However, needs to work on his accuracy, touch, and presence inside the pocket.

Fantasy Football Outlook

Tennessee hasn’t been a very offensive-friendly team in fantasy football. This is a run-heavy offense that goes through Derrick Henry. That is, of course, he doesn’t end up getting traded. When Will Levis takes over at quarterback, he can use play-action when teams focus on stopping Henry to push the ball downfield.

The main targets he will be throwing to are wide receiver Treylon Burks and tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo, both young players with potential. The rest of the receiving core is pretty bare and Levis will be playing behind an offensive line that has been shaky at best the last few years.

In regular and redraft formats, Levis should be available late in drafts and will more than likely go undrafted. Due to the type of offense, it will be hard for him to become a viable fantasy starter right now. Unless his pass rate goes through the roof or he ends up using his legs to gain yards. I expect him to be QB25 to QB30 range. Finally, he would be more of a play in 2QB leagues.

Dynasty Outlook

For dynasty, he should be drafted behind Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud, Anthony Richardson, and possibly Hendon Hooker. This would make Levis a middle to late-second-rounder, potentially falling into the third round of 1QB rookie drafts. In your Superflex and 2QB rookie drafts, he’ll still hold plenty of value.

As far as the future goes, it is hard to see Levis being a top-tier fantasy football option unless things change with the offensive philosophy in Tennessee. Overall, I believe his ceiling right now is around QB15 overall if everything were to go his way.

Furthermore, Levis needs more weapons and more opportunities to make plays. I expect Tennessee to play conservatively, run the ball a ton, and use play-action sparingly. Overall, there just won’t be enough for Levis to make an impact unless he can get into shootouts or run the ball a ton to be fantasy football relevant.
