The 2022 NFL season has been flying by and the playoffs are just around the corner. One of the most popular topics of discussion lately has been who will win the NFL MVP. Will it be Patrick Mahomes or Jalen Hurts? Will we have a surprise finish and see someone like Josh Allen or Joe Burrow win it? As of now, most sportsbooks are projecting Hurts to win with Mahomes as a close second.
Jalen Hurts
For the remainder of the season, Hurts faces off with the Bears, Cowboys, Saints, and Giants. As for Mahomes, he gets the Texans, Seahawks, Broncos, and Raiders. Based on the remaining schedules, I’d be inclined to take Hurts. Both of these quarterbacks could finish the season with some very solid numbers, but this Eagles team is overall playing better than the Chiefs.
Between their defense and the way this offense has been, plus getting Dallas Goedert back soon, the Eagles could very well win out. The only real tough defense Hurts will face the rest of the way is the Cowboys, and I’d expect that he’ll stay hot and pull out a win, further improving his case to win MVP this year. Overall, the MVP award is for quarterbacks, and having the best record in football is going to help you out tremendously. The Eagles are the best team in the NFL right now and Hurts is playing out of his mind. – @aaron_schill
Patrick Mahomes
For a quarterback who is first in the NFL in passing yards (4,160), passing touchdowns (33), and Quarterback Rating (77.9), how could he not be the MVP? With the loss of Tyreek Hill, Mahomes has been put to the test to see how he can run an offense without such an elite weapon. Yes, he still has Travis Kelce, but he has a complement of receivers and running backs to work with. Just some of his throws while on the move or about to get tackled are just amazing and SportsCenter top-10 worthy. – @RyanMiner_FFB
