5 NFL Draft Stock Risers for 2024: Rome Odunze the Real Deal

As Week 4 of the college football season concludes, we are beginning to see a rise in stock for 2024 NFL Draft prospects. Each week there is another player that makes you go back to the tape and verify what the box score is telling us. Here are the five players that stood out as potential risers for the upcoming draft.

Washington WR Rome Odunze is a STUD

Odunze was a highly-regarded wide receiver prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft class, but his performance thus far has had him shooting up the rankings. He’s a twitchy route runner with a phenomenal wingspan and a perfect frame for the NFL level. Odunze has made a strong connection with his quarterback, Michael Penix Jr., registering 544 yards and four touchdowns through four games this season. While no one compares to Marvin Harrison Jr., Odunze will likely be a first-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Wisconsin RB Braelon Allen goes Beast Mode

The top running back spot in NFL Draft rankings is up for grabs at this point, and Allen is making the case for being at the top. At his size, he’ll get labeled as a pure power runner, but he has the speed to back it up. Not only can he run defenders over in the trenches and the open field, but he also has the long speed to run away from defenders and hit the home run. He certainly beginning his sprint to the RB1 spot on draft boards.

Washington State QB Cameron Ward has NFL-Starter Traits

In a draft class that has a ton of top-tier NFL-level talent, Ward is starting to be a name that we need to have our eye on. After returning to Washington State despite a season where he threw for over 3,000 yards and 23 touchdowns, he’s picking up where he left off, showing great ball placement and solid mechanics. While he likely won’t compete for a top-five spot at the position, he’s worthy of being a top-10 quarterback with how he’s performed early in the season.

USC EDGE Solomon Byrd Breaking Out

Coming into the season as a redshirt senior and his second season with USC, Byrd is a seasoned vet on a stout defense. While his production was significant last season, he’s off to a red-hot start through the first four games of USC’s schedule. Thus far, Byrd has registered 4.5 sacks, with 14 total tackles and 7.5 for a loss. Two of those sacks came last week against Arizona State, and with a strong schedule the rest of the way for the Trojans, we should get a good look at whether this is a flash in the pan for Byrd or if he’s the real deal.

Georgia DB Tykee Smith is a Ballhawk

Smith has displayed versatility on Georgia’s defense, playing both as a coverage defender as well as a run stopper. Where he’s proving most dangerous this year is his ball skills. Prior to this year, he had four interceptions, which came during his freshman and sophomore years at West Virginia. He already has a total of three picks, one of which came last week against Alabama-Birmingham, making three straight games with an interception. While he’s still outside of the top ten in safety rankings, Smith can certainly make a name for himself as a ball-hawking, run-defending defensive back at the next level.
