Buccaneers Rookie Running Back Rachaad White Goes Off on Twitter DMs

Buccaneers rookie running back Rachaad White took some built-up aggression out the other day on Twitter. For what it’s worth, White is my 4th ranked running back in this class and I absolutely love the upside that he brings in the receiving game. He’s a big, athletic back with a chip on his shoulder. Why does he have such a chip on his shoulder? That’s the real question.

I’ll also add quickly that I never said anything bad about White. If you know me, you’ll know I’ve never been the biggest fan of Ronald Jones. I did say that I was more excited about White in this offense than I was about Jones. Just sayin.

Fantasy Implications

As a lifelong Tampa Bay fan, I absolutely love to see the fire that White brings. Anyone that comes into the league immediately looking to make a name for themself and just prove everyone wrong, you have to get a bit excited about them. As a fan, I love this attitude and can’t wait to see what it translates to on the field. On the other hand, it is definitely a bit concerning that he feels the need to defend himself to this extent. Interpret it however you want.

Let’s not get anything misunderstood though, this backfield belongs to Leonard Fournette for the foreseeable future. He’s coming off one of the best seasons of his career, just signed a three-year deal, and Ronald Jones is out of the picture. There would need to be an injury to Fournette for White to really become fantasy-relevant right away unless the Buccaneers lean on him in the passing game. That sounds great and all, but don’t forget that Giovani Bernard is also back and healthy, and is one of the best, veteran, pass-catching running backs in the NFL.

From a long-term perspective, I love the fit of White in Tampa Bay and think he could really put up some fantasy production thanks to his upside in the passing game. He’s a much more polished receiver than Fournette is and I think that’ll be put on display as soon as this year. He’ll work his way in and in a year or two, who knows. He could very well be the future running back of this offense.

Twitter DMs

After a discussion about his fit and role in this offense, he followed me and sent me a few messages, you can see them below. After coming in hot, he did back off a bit and apologize. You can see on my timeline that I haven’t said anything bashing White and this whole discussion was a bit odd, but here it is:
