DJ Moore – Carolina Panthers

25 Years Old. DOB: April 14, 1997

Last year, DJ Moore was sixth in the NFL in targets with 163 and was held to under 1,200 yards, and had five touchdowns. The funny thing about this is he’s the only wide receiver over the last three years to go over 1,100 receiving yards and be held under five touchdowns all while seeing north of 25% (28.4%) of the Panthers’ targets including a 25% red zone target share.

Terry McLaurin, on the other hand, has seen no more than 134 targets, back in 2020, and has a 24.5% of the team’s target share along with a low 17% red zone target share. Targets lead to opportunity and I feel with the opportunity that Moore has, plus a new contract and McLaurin doesn’t. Moore is the one I feel the most comfortable with going into 2022 and beyond. – Ryan Miner @RyanMiner_FFB

Coming off his third 1,000-yard season, Moore is a guaranteed 140+ target machine in 2022. He saw a career-high in 2021 with 163, and while his quarterback situation has not improved, you can expect the production to be there for Moore. Carolina did not address the wide receiver position in the draft, while the Commanders took Jahan Doctson in the 1st Round.

Despite atrocious quarterback play in Carolina, Moore was tied for 5th best in 10+ yard receptions with 52. He has shown how efficient he can be, and when Carolina adds a top quarterback in 2023, I expect Moore to have a top 10 season. In dynasty, I’m going Moore all the way. – Ralph Martinez @LobosFFDen

Let me first say that I am a huge McLaurin fan. He’s got the skills to be a great wide receiver for a number of years in the NFL, as he showed earlier in his career. That said, Moore is my pick here. In my opinion, Carson Wentz is a downgrade at quarterback from last season. Moore goes into 2022 with familiarity, which is a big component to a bountiful receiver/quarterback relationship. Even without that, Moore has surpassed 1,100 receiving yards in three consecutive seasons. We may, again, not see a lot of touchdown production from the Maryland alum, but his steady stream of receptions and yardage is enough to get me on board with Moore. – Benjamin Ditlevson @FFRabbitDad

Terry McLaurin – Washington Commanders

26 Years Old. DOB: September 15, 1995

I’ll preface this by saying that these two wideouts are close for me in rankings. Moore produces regardless of who is out there throwing him the ball. On the other hand, McLaurin has really done essentially the same, just hasn’t finished quite as high as Moore’s WR16 finish back in 2019. Both are low-end WR2 options with upside, but the kicker with this one is going to be the quarterback situation. I know, Carson Wentz isn’t good. But, he still throws enough to get his wide receivers the volume they need, we saw Michael Pittman Jr. last year finish as the WR17 in PPR. – Aaron Schill @aaron_schill

Give me McLaurin over Moore every time. Talent-wise, I think they are both on the same level as both are in the mid-twenties in wide receiver rankings, but this is more quarterback-related than talent.

McLaurin will have the best quarterback he has ever had in Wentz this season. That’s really not saying much, but the last time McLaurin had mediocre quarterback play with Taylor Heinicke, he had his best season as a pro with 87 receptions for 1,118 yards and four touchdowns. Meanwhile, Moore will have Sam Darnold again. – Brendan O’Bryan @OBryanBren

I’m taking McLaurin. He has 16 career touchdowns in three seasons versus Moore’s 15 career touchdowns in four seasons. Moore’s career-high in touchdowns is four and McLaurin already has two seasons with more than four touchdowns. I think the receiving yards will be close between the two. Give me the player who has gotten into the end zone more consistently. – Steve Stoughton @sstoughton77
