Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) - Studs and Values Week 7

Welcome back to the latest installment of our DFS series on studs and values. This article will focus strictly on Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) and more specifically DraftKings contest for the Sunday slate of games. However, typically the picks will work on FanDuel as well. Today, we’re breaking down the Week 7 slate.

Last week was very disappointing, to say the least. There were a lot of low scores around the league resulting in not enough fantasy points to go around. In fact, the average points per game last week were the lowest in the NFL since 2014. Let’s do a quick recap of last week’s plays and then jump right into the top plays for week 7 in hopes of some more scoring around the league.

Smash

Rhamondre Stevenson RB6 scoring 18 fantasy points.

Kenneth Walker had a very solid day scoring 17.9 fantasy points.

Duds

The Trevor Lawrence, Calvin Ridley, and Evan Engram stack was very disappointing. They only scored a combined 33.44 points.

Logan Thomas was one of the most disappointing players of the week. He was over 20% owned and only scored a whopping 1.2 points.

Quarterbacks

Lamar Jackson ($7,600)

Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens offense have had their struggles this season. Last week, they couldn’t get in done with their red zone offense, as they were forced to kick six field goals. All but one of those field goals were from inside the red zone. Jackson and company will look to turn those opportunities into touchdowns this week. He gets a good matchup to do just that against the Detroit Lions’ defense. They have allowed a touchdown on 57.89% of red zone possessions. Look for the former MVP to have a nice bounce-back game on Sunday.

Kenny Pickett ($5,000)

Pickett and the entire Pittsburgh Steelers offense got a much-needed bye last week. They were dealing with several injuries including Pickett himself who had a bone bruise on his knee. Not only is Pickett healthier but he also gets his number one target back in Diontae Johnson. Furthermore, he will also be getting his tight end Pat Freiermuth back after missing their game two weeks ago. Moreover, Pickett gets a matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, who have allowed the 10th most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. Targeting offenses out of a bye is always a good strategy, as the Steelers look to silence their critics and put together a good offensive performance.

Running Backs

Aaron Jones ($6,800)

This pick all depends on the health of Jones. The good news is he was able to log a limited practice Wednesday. If he plays, he has the potential to put up a huge stat line. He’s facing a Denver Broncos defense that in simple terms just can’t stop running backs. The Broncos have allowed over 1,000 total yards and 12 total touchdowns to running backs this season in only six games. That is historically bad and Jones is next in line to add to those numbers. Make sure you double-check Jones’s injury status for the game but with the bye week, he should be good to go come Sunday evening.

Zach Charbonnet ($4,300)

This pick is risky because Walker is the clear top guy in Seattle. However, this week the Seahawks are playing at home and are eight-point favorites over the Arizona Cardinals. The last time the Seahawks were favored at home, Charbonnet saw 43% of snaps compared to just 24% the last two weeks. If the Seahawks can find themselves up in this game, the rookie will get enough work to make him worth the value at his price.

Wide Receivers

Cooper Kupp ($9,500)

Matthew Stafford got his guy back two games ago and the duo didn’t skip a beat. Kupp looked just like the 2021 offensive player of the year we all remember. In those two games, Kupp put up a total of 266 receiving yards and scored a touchdown last week. This week, Kupp faces the Steelers defense who have allowed the most fantasy points per game to receivers in the slot. Kupp is the best slot receiver in the league and he will feast on this Steelers defense. Kupp will be among the top three if not the top fantasy-scoring wide receiver this week.

Wan’Dale Robinson ($3,800)

The Washington Commanders’ defense has struggled severely to stop opposing wide receivers this season. They have allowed a league-high 1,202 receiving yards to the position this season. Furthermore, they have allowed a league-high nine touchdowns as well. Robinson who has only played four games this season is seeing an absurd 40% of targets per route run. Whether the quarterback is Daniel Jones or Tyrod Taylor, Robinson will be targeted and he will be a smash value this week.

Tight Ends

Mark Andrews ($5,700)

The Lamar and Andrews stack this week is looking beautiful. They are facing a Lions defense who are top five worst in receptions, receiving yards and fantasy points allowed to tight ends this season. With the Ravens’ red zone struggles, Andrews needs to be targeted more in those situations. He has not scored since week 4 and it’s safe to say the star tight end is due. Look for Andrews and Lamar to connect for at least one touchdown and plenty of yards in this matchup.

Michael Mayer ($2,700)

The Las Vegas Raiders finally got Mayer involved after getting out-snapped by the veteran Austin Hopper in the first three games of the season. The rookie tight end out of Notre Dame had his best game as a pro last week leading the team in receiving yards with 75. In that game, Mayer saw an 81% snap share, and over the last two games, he has a very good 26% target share per route run. Mayer gets a good matchup this week against the Chicago Bears who have been among the worst teams at stopping tight ends this season. Look for Mayer to keep the momentum and have another good week Sunday.

Defense / Special Teams

Las Vegas Raiders ($3,800)

The Raiders certainly do not have the best defense in the league. However, they have a great matchup on Sunday. The Bears will be starting undrafted rookie quarterback Tyson Bagent. He turned the ball over twice in only a couple of drives after taking over for the injured Justin Fields last week. Furthermore, the Bears offensive line will struggle to stop the Raiders pass rush. The Raiders have 13 sacks on the season and the Bears have allowed 25 sacks on the season. Don’t be surprised if Maxx Crosby single-handedly scores 7-10 fantasy points for the Raiders defense this week.
