Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) – Week 6 Studs and Values

Daily-Fantasy-Sports-DFS-Week-6-Studs-and-Values

Welcome back to the latest installment of our DFS series on studs and values. This article will focus strictly on Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) and more specifically DraftKings contest for the Sunday slate of games. However, typically the picks will work on FanDuel as well. Today, we’re breaking down the Week 5 slate.

Just like for your fantasy football teams, injuries have been killing my picks the last couple of weeks. Let’s hope for some better luck this week.

Smash

Breece Hall was RB2 and the 4th highest-scoring player overall with 31.40 fantasy points.

Rashee Rice was a good value catching a touchdown scoring 13.3 points.

Darren Waller had his best game of the season scoring 16.6 points.

Duds

Anthony Richardson got hurt and was only able to play one-third of the game scoring 4.42 points.

Daniel Jones was able to play a little more than Richardson but still missed out on the fourth-quarter garbage time only scoring 7.16 points.

Michael Pittman Jr. wasn’t terrible but 10.20 wasn’t enough to be worth his price.

Let’s jump right into this week’s top studs and values.

Quarterbacks

Trevor Lawrence ($6,500)

Lawrence was expected to take the next step into the elite category this season. However, the numbers have not been up to those standards. Even though Lawrence has only thrown for five touchdowns this season, outside of his fumbling issue, he has played very well. The biggest problem with his lack of touchdowns isn’t necessarily all on Lawrence either. A big issue has been his weapons having drop issues.

This week the Jacksonville Jaguars face off against a familiar opponent in the Indianapolis Colts. In Week 1, Lawrence threw for 241 yards and two touchdowns against this defense. Look for Lawrence and company to get their offensive issues worked out on their home field this week after playing the last two weeks in London.

Joshua Dobbs ($5,200)

Despite being a late addition to the Cardinals roster, Dobbs has surprisingly been much better than many anticipated. In three out of five games for Dobbs, he has been able to score 17 or more DraftKings points. In those three games, he’s been able to rush for 40 or more yards in all three. This week he faces a Los Angeles Rams defense that has allowed quarterbacks to run this season. The Rams have allowed the fifth most rushing yards to quarterbacks mainly due to the last couple of weeks. Yes, those two weeks were against Jalen Hurts and Anthony Richardson. However, with the Cardinals missing James Connor they will be forced to let Dobbs run more. He is already the fifth-highest quarterback in designed runs this season so a few more this week could result in a big day for Dobbs.

Running Backs

Rhamondre Stevenson ($5,400)

Stevenson has been one of the more disappointing fantasy players this season. However, a big reason for his lack of success the last three weeks has been the opponent’s defense. Furthermore, the Patriots offense as a whole has been brutal only scoring three points the last two weeks and 18 the last three. This week, the offense should look much better as they face the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders just allowed AJ Dillon to have his best game of the season. The Patriots need to get Stevenson going if they are going to have any success on offense. At this price, Stevenson is worth the risk.

Kenneth Walker ($6,700)

Walker has scored over 10 fantasy points in every game this season. He has done this without having a game over 100 rushing yards. This week, he faces the Cincinnati Bengals defense who have allowed the fifth most rushing yards per carry in the NFL. Furthermore, they have allowed a 100-yard rusher in two of their five games this season. Walker is fresh coming off the Seattle Seahawks’ Week 5 bye. Look for the Walker to get his first 100-rushing-yard game of the season and have a big game on Sunday.

Wide Receivers

Calvin Ridley ($6,700)

Ridley comes into this week as the 14th highest-priced receiver on DraftKings. This is despite having his best game of the season against the Colts in week 1. He is also coming off a stellar performance where he scored 23.6 fantasy points last week. Furthermore, he’s facing the Colts’ defense who have allowed the seventh most receiving yards to wide receivers this season. Ridley’s salary is still way too cheap and he should crush value again this week.

Dj Moore ($6,500)

Moore and Justin Fields have to be licking their chops for this week’s matchup. They face off against the Minnesota Vikings who have been the worst defense against wide receivers this season. Moore himself has scored 82.1 fantasy points in the last TWO WEEKS alone. He has also scored a touchdown in three straight weeks. Despite that his salary comes in as the 16th-ranked wide receiver on DraftKings, it is the 8th-highest on FanDuel. Moore will be chalk on DraftKings but this is chalk that you absolutely must eat.

Tight Ends

Evan Engram ($4,500)

The Lawrence, Ridley, and Engram stack is risky but could be a tournament winner this week. Engram is second in the NFL among tight ends in receiving yards and has a solid 22% target per route run this season. However, he is still the sixth tight end salary-wise on the slate. That is in large part due to his lack of touchdowns and he even dropped a touchdown last week. If Engram can find the end zone for the first time this season, he will be a great value on this slate.

Logan Thomas ($3,500)

This Season Thomas has been one of the more reliable fantasy tight ends. Coming into this game, he is ranked 11th among tight ends in terms of total points scored. That is with Thomas having played one less game than all but two tight ends in the top ten. This week he gets a juicy matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. They have allowed the second most receptions to tight ends with 35, as well as the second most fantasy points to tight ends this season. That’s even worse than the Chicago Bears who just surrendered 77 yards and one touchdown to Thomas. Thomas could very well be among the top-scoring tight ends and that’s at a tremendous value salary-wise.

Defense / Special Teams

San Francisco 49ers ($4,000)

This season, the Browns have allowed at least three sacks in every game. If rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson does start then the 49ers defense could put up huge numbers. If they are able to turn to Deshaun Watson he still will likely not be 100% with his shoulder injury. Without Nick Chubb, this offense is just not the same. Paying up for the 49ers as the highest-priced defense is well worth it this week.
