DFS Cash Game Picks – NFL Week 12
Welcome back to another edition of DFS Cash Game Picks. In this series, we target some expensive players who are worth paying for. Additionally, we have some value plays as well. We’ll be breaking down the best DFS picks you should be targeting in Week 12 of the NFL season.
Another week of the NFL season is in the books. Last week’s picks were very good overall despite a bad value pick at running back. However, both quarterbacks smashed and we got a touchdown from one of the running backs and both wide receivers. Check out a quick recap of last week’s picks below followed by my Week 12 studs and value picks for DFS cash games.
Week 11 Recap
Smash
Justin Fields looked very good in his return rushing for over 100 yards ending the game with 24.2 fantasy points.
DJ Moore completed the stack after Fields and Moore connected for a touchdown and Moore finished with a very good 22.6 points.
Brock Purdy was the QB2 scoring his season-high of 29.7 points.
Tony Pollard scored his first touchdown since week 1 en route to 18 fantasy points.
Duds
Tyjae Spears was very disappointing only scoring 4.6 points.
Luke Musgrave despite seeing six targets and having four receptions only finished with 28 yards for a mediocre 6.8 points.
The Pittsburgh Steelers defense was mediocre as they only ended with one sack and turnover finishing with only 7.0 fantasy points.
Week 12 DFS Cash Game Picks
Quarterbacks
Kyler Murray ($6,900)
Murray came back and made his return from his ACL injury a couple of weeks ago. He has looked very good all things considered and in both games he has played, he has a rushing touchdown in each. His rushing ability is still there, which will be great for his fantasy upside both this week and down the stretch the rest of the season. Furthermore, he has thrown for at least 214 yards in each game as well.
This week, he will face a familiar foe in the Los Angeles Rams. Murray has played seven games against the Rams in his career. In three of those games, he has thrown for more than 300 yards. Look for Murray to add to that number this week.
Gardner Minshew ($5,100)
With this being a smaller slate, the bargain bin for quarterbacks is more of a dumpster. However, Minshew has perhaps the best matchup out of the quarterbacks in the 5K range. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have struggled against quarterbacks this season, despite being a top-five defense against the run. Minshew will be forced to make plays against the Bucs who allow the second most passing yards per game this season.
Running Backs
D’Andre Swift ($6,800)
Swift has revitalized his career in Philadelphia. The running back out of Georgia struggled to stay healthy in Detroit and overall was a disappointment. However, since being traded to Philly he has yet to miss a game (knock on wood). Furthermore, he already has the most rushing yards he’s had in a single season with 690 thus far. Overall, he has been a nice weapon for the 2023 Super Bowl runner-ups. That will continue this weekend against the Buffalo Bills in what could be a high-scoring affair.
Najee Harris ($4,900)
The Pittsburgh Steelers finally fired offensive coordinator Matt Canada. The offense for the last two years under Canada has looked stale and lacked any creativity. With Canada gone the Steelers offense should be able to move the ball downfield. Harris is still capable of finding the end zone and the Bengals have allowed running backs to run all over them the last couple of weeks.
Furthermore, the Bengals have allowed the second most rushing yards in the last two games and the most rushing touchdowns. Moreover, Harris has scored three touchdowns in just four games against the Bengals in his career. Look for Harris will add to that total this weekend.
Wide Receivers
Adam Thielen ($7,300)
Thielen has been the one bright spot on the Carolina Panthers offense. He is seeing a 30% target share, which is top ten in the NFL for wide receivers. Furthermore, he will face the Tennessee Titans defense, who have struggled to stop wide receivers this season. The Titans’ defense has allowed the fifth most receptions to wide receivers, as well as a 70.5% catch rate. Thielen is going to get his targets in this matchup and will once again be the main source of offense.
Josh Downs ($4,800)
Downs has had a couple of huge games this season but overall has been inconsistent. However, this week has the potential to be a boom game. Downs will face off against the Buccaneers who have been torched in the slot this season. The Buccaneers allow the third most fantasy points in the slot per game. Furthermore, they have surrendered 11 receiving touchdowns to wide receivers which is tied for sixth worst in the league. The stars align for Minshew and Downs to be a tremendous value stack on this small slate.
Tight Ends
Trey McBride ($4,700)
The second-year tight end out of Colorado has broken out the second half of the 2023 season. More importantly with Murray’s return, McBride has put together back-to-back good games. In those two games, he has 13 catches for 174 receiving yards. Furthermore, McBride will face the Los Angeles Rams defense, who allowed the 10th most fantasy points to tight ends this season. Look for McBride and Murray to continue their recent success.
Tanner Hudson ($2,700)
The Cincinnati Bengals have basically been a revolving door at the tight end position. They have used four different tight ends in each of the last three games. However, Hudson has seen a slight increase in snaps in each of the last three games. In those three games, Hudson has hauled in 14 total receptions for 127 receiving yards. The Bengals will be starting Jake Browning, however, backup quarterbacks tend to target tight ends more as security blankets. Look for Hudson to continue to break out and potentially take over as the starting tight end.
Defense / Special Teams
Kansas City Chiefs ($3,100)
It’s hard to believe but the Chiefs defense has actually been better than Patrick Mahomes and the offense for most of the season. They have double-digit sacks in every game but one this season. Furthermore, they have held two very good offenses to just 21 and 14 points in the last two games.
This week, the Chiefs defense will face rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell. O’Connell is coming off a game where he threw three interceptions. More importantly, he has thrown a pick in four out of five games he’s played this season. Look for Steve Spagnuolo to dial up the pressure forcing the rookie into some turnovers.
