Fantasy Football Outlook: Recently, the Panthers have been scrutinized for the weakness in their receiver room. This weakness was made clear with the departure of DJ Moore to the Bears in a package to get to the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Because of the trade, Carolina was left with only two notable players, Terrace Marshall Jr., and Laviska Shenault.
However, since that trade, they have brought in a new set of weapons to be available for their hopeful quarterback of the future. This includes Miles Sanders, Adam Thielen, and a backup quarterback in Andy Dalton. DJ Chark is the newest addition to this group Carolina’s front office is attempting to put together.
In addition to his experience throughout the league, Chark provides an elite speed option that was not present beforehand. He operates best by stretching the defense deep down the field.
This past season with Detroit, he had an average depth of target of 15.4 yards as a deep threat. He ended up at wide receiver 56 in our Consistency Score metric for 2022. I do not think this new home brings new life to his career. Although with a lack of competition, he will get a share of the targets.
At this point, Chark would not be on my radar outside of late-round pickups in best ball leagues. In dynasty, he has the potential to be a throw-in to a trade to help fill up your bench on a deep roster. Due to the steady downturn his career has taken, he may have even been dropped in a few of your shallower dynasty leagues.
