Dynasty Fantasy Football: Week 13 Buys and Sells

Dynasty-Fantasy-Football-Week-13-Buys-and-Sells

Now that we are almost 75% of the way through the season, fantasy players have a clear-cut picture of their dynasty teams. When everyone has a 2-0, 1-1, or 0-2 record after Week 2, it’s easy to say you’re team is a contender regardless of the record. However, that isn’t the case anymore. If you’re already looking ahead to next year, be sure to check out all of our 2023 dynasty rookie content.

The 2022 NFL season is flashing right before our eyes, and several players have seen a rise or fall in their fantasy value. Younger players have shown superstar potential, while others have struggled to earn playing time. Some veteran players are showing signs of regression, while others remain the fantasy stars they were last season.

While everyone loves a good buy-low and sell-high article, I’m focusing on four players I would consider trading for or trading away. Some of these players will be buy-low and sell-high candidates, while others might be buy-high and sell-low candidates.

As always, feel free to DM me on Twitter (@Mike_NFL2) with trade questions specific to your fantasy league.

All stats in this article are based on half-point PPR scoring.

Buy: Jordan Love, QB, Green Bay Packers

We can all agree that the world needs a little more love. Maybe the Packers do too. The third-year quarterback had 62 pass attempts before this season, with 34 coming in his lone start last year against the Kansas City Chiefs. However, the former Utah State star played most of the fourth quarter on Sunday night against the Philadelphia Eagles. While he was playing against mostly soft coverage, as the Eagles had a double-digit lead throughout the fourth quarter, Love made some impressive throws. He ended the game, completing six of his nine pass attempts for 113 yards, a touchdown, and 8.5 fantasy points.

Aaron Rodgers left the game with an oblique injury. While Green Bay’s season hasn’t gone as many expected, the future Hall of Famer said he expects to play next week against the Chicago Bears. Meanwhile, head coach Matt LaFleur said he expects Rodgers to play if he is healthy. That’s all fine and dandy. However, the Packers will get eliminated from the playoffs in the next few weeks. At that point, they have no reason to play Rodgers. Maybe Love will struggle and show he’s not the next franchise quarterback. But if he shines, his trade value will skyrocket. Now is the time to take a chance on Love.

Buy: Jake Ferguson, TE, Dallas Cowboys

Trading for Ferguson is all about the future. Dalton Schultz has missed time with a knee injury this season but has been the clear-cut No. 1 tight end for the Cowboys when healthy. The veteran tight end has averaged 6.3 targets and 10.5 fantasy points per game in the six games Dak Prescott has played. By comparison, he averaged 6.1 targets and 10 fantasy points per game last season. While the star tight end is playing well, there is a good chance he won’t be back with the Cowboys next year. Dallas is in a tough spot with cap space this offseason. Meanwhile, Schultz is a free agent after the season and likely will command a massive deal on the open market.

While losing Schultz will hurt the Cowboys, his replacement is already on the roster. Ferguson has flashed potential at times this year. He earned more snaps over the past few weeks. After seeing 28% or less of the snaps in two of the first three games Schultz played this season, the rookie tight end has played 48% or more of the snaps in three of the past four contests. Furthermore, he has caught all five of his targets for 72 receiving yards over the past two weeks. More importantly, some draft scouts compared Ferguson to Schultz back in March. If the veteran tight end leaves this offseason, the rookie will be an intriguing sleeper candidate come August.

Sell: Mike White, QB, New York Jets

Whether you believe Zach Wilson is a bust or still has a chance to turn into a top-tier quarterback, we can all agree that White isn’t the franchise guy. Well, everyone but Richard Sherman. Yes, the former Western Kentucky star had an excellent performance on Sunday against the Chicago Bears. He completed 78.6% of his pass attempts for 315 yards, three touchdowns, and scored 24.8 fantasy points in the win. However, Chicago’s defense has been awful lately, and they were missing several starters in the secondary on Sunday. Furthermore, let’s not forget how awful he was last year filling in for an injured Wilson.

Last year, White played in four games for the Jets, starting three. He averaged only 11 fantasy points per game last year. White scored 26.1 fantasy points against the Cincinnati Bengals. However, he had 8.1 or fewer fantasy points in the other three games. Moreover, White had eight interceptions on only 132 pass attempts, averaging an interception once per 16.5 pass attempts. Maybe the former fifth-round pick will start every game for the rest of the 2022 season, but he’s not the franchise quarterback. Trade him away this week for the best offer on the table. He played great against the Bengals last year and followed it up with a 7.8 fantasy point performance the following week.

Sell: Isiah Pacheco, RB, Kansas City Chiefs

When you think of the elite running backs in the NFL, most of them were early draft picks. Christian McCaffrey and Saquon Barkley were top-10 picks, while Derrick Henry, Jonathan Taylor, and Nick Chubb were second-round selections. The only exception is Austin Ekeler, who was an undrafted free agent. What’s the point? Fantasy superstar running backs rarely come from Day 3 picks in the NFL Draft. Pacheco was a late-seventh-round pick by the Chiefs this year. Some have held out hope since the 2022 NFL Draft that Pacheco could turn into a superstar. However, that hasn’t happened.

Yes, Pacheco has played well lately. Over the past three games, the former Rutgers running back has averaged 86 rushing yards and 10.7 fantasy points per game. Yet, the rookie has no value in the passing game, seeing four targets all season. More importantly, Pacheco hasn’t played more than 56% of the snaps in any game this season while playing 40% or fewer in all but two contests. Meanwhile, the Chiefs signed Melvin Gordon on Monday, making their backfield even more of a mess for fantasy players. Find the league mate who still believes in Pacheco and get a third-round rookie pick for him. A year from, he might not even be on the roster.
