Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 13

We are on to Week 13 of the 2023 NFL season, which means only a few weeks left before the fantasy football playoffs. Trade deadlines likely have passed unless you’re in a dynasty league, so spend that FAAB, and use that top waiver claim. This week we see the Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers on a bye week. Let’s get right into it with the top waiver wire options you should be considering in your fantasy football leagues for Week 13. 

Quarterbacks

Mike White, New York Jets

Mike White is back! Jets fans finally saw an offense, and White makes several Jet options fantasy relevant. Zach Wilson went to the bench, and White put together an excellent game. He completed 22 of 28 passes for 315 yards and three touchdowns. He threw touchdowns to rookie Garrett Wilson twice, and Elijah Moore once.

White was throwing a lot to his running backs as well. He gets the Vikings, Lions, Jaguars, Seahawks, and Dolphins in five of his final six games. All six remaining games are against bottom-half pass defenses.

Jared Goff, Detroit Lions

Jared Goff almost led Detroit to an improbable win over Buffalo on Thanksgiving, but Goff himself looked good. He completed 22 of 37 passes for 240 yards and two touchdowns. Goff is expected to get rookie Jameson Williams before the end of the season to boost his fantasy stock so we’ll see if/when his debut is. Goff is a very solid QB2 in Superflex or a matchup-dependent QB1.

Running Backs

Gus Edwards, Baltimore Ravens

Gus Edwards returned after a couple of game absences and rushed 16 times for 52 yards and a touchdown. He did lose a major fumble at the end, but as long as JK Dobbins is out, Edwards will operate as the RB1 in Baltimore and should be rostered all over.

JaMycal Hasty, Jacksonville Jaguars

With Travis Etienne leaving with an injury, and his status up in the air for next week, JaMycal Hasty rushed 12 times for 28 yards, but had his production through the air catching all five of his targets for 67 yards and a touchdown. Hasty should be at the top of waiver wire claims if Etienne misses any time, but as of now, it sounds precautionary (missing no time). Keep an eye on Snoop Conner in deeper leagues as well.

Zonovan Knight, New York Jets

Zonovan Knight is a virtual unknown to anyone, not a Jets fan. As a Jets fan myself, I was very excited to see him active for this game. The undrafted rookie runs hard and had a solid showing in the preseason. James Robinson was a surprise inactive, and Michael Carter left with an ankle injury (which was ruled a low ankle sprain).

White peppered his running backs with targets all day. Knight rushed 14 times for 69 yards and caught all three of his targets for 34 yards. If Carter is forced to miss next week, Bam likely becomes the Jets’ RB1 against the Vikings. As of now, Carter is highly questionable for Sunday.

Snoop Conner, Jacksonville Jaguars

With Travis Etienne’s injury, Jamycal Hasty took over the workhorse role, leaving Snoop Conner to minimal touches, only three for 11 yards. Conner is a popular name in dynasty formats this past summer and has the opportunity now as the RB2 for the time being depending on Etienne. He is only 22 years old so likely has a chance to stick around in Jacksonville. Hasty is only on a one-year deal, so unless the Jaguars add a running back, Conner is their RB2 next season.

Tyler Allgeier, Atlanta Falcons

Tyler Allgeier went to the RB2 spot once Cordarrelle Patterson returned, but he has been spittling carries with him. Allgeier rushed 11 times for 54 yards, while Patterson had 11 carries for 52 yards. He didn’t factor into the passing game which reduces his fantasy value, but he should be rostered in deeper formats and can be an RB1 if Patterson were to miss any more time this season with an injury.

Wide Receivers

Treylon Burks, Tennessee Titans

Treylon Burks should not be on your waiver wire, and if he is, he should be a high-priority add this week. Burks is in the middle of a breakout. He caught 4 of 6 targets for 70 yards. He recovered a fumble in the endzone for a touchdown as well. The first-round rookie is doing enough right now to merit flex consideration, and likely should be in the starter conversation for the rest of the season.

Zay Jones, Jacksonville Jaguars

What a day for Zay Jones. In an upset win over the Baltimore Ravens, Jones caught 11 of 14 targets for 145 yards. The previous week he saw 10 targets. This is the fourth time this season he has seen double-digit targets and needs to be in the starting conversation for fantasy. In a full-point format, he has put up double-digit fantasy points in half of his games this season.

Elijah Moore, New York Jets

I hope you didn’t trade your Elijah Moore shares. Moore now seems happy with the Jets and had an excellent game Sunday with White throwing the ball. He caught both his targets for 64 yards and a touchdown, his first of the season. While the targets aren’t a lot, it’s a promising sign for the second-year receiver, as the Jets have him in his natural position, the slot.

Isaiah Mckenzie, Buffalo Bills

Isaiah Mckenzie had himself a breakout on Thanksgiving. He caught 6 of 10 targets for 96 yards and a touchdown. While he has been inconsistent this year stat-wise, Mckenzie is someone to keep an eye on for Buffalo. The double-digit target share was his most this season, and he looks to build on that this Thursday at New England.

Richie James, New York Giants

Is there a new WR1 for the Giants? Richie James has put together back-to-back decent fantasy performances. On Thanksgiving, he caught 5 of 6 targets for 41 yards and a touchdown. He has scored touchdowns on back-to-back weeks and looks to build on that in a big game against the Commanders next Sunday.

Skyy Moore, Kansas City Chiefs

With multiple injuries on offense, Skyy Moore found himself in a starting role for Kansas City. He caught 5 of 6 targets for 36 yards and has seen six targets in back-to-back weeks. The rookie is looking to find a breakout and has that chance in Week 13. He gets the Bengals next Sunday and could build off last week’s performance.

Tight Ends

Hunter Henry, New England Patriots

Hunter Henry had a controversial touchdown reversed on Thanksgiving, which would have given him two on the night. He caught three of five targets for 63 yards and a touchdown. Henry has been inconsistent this season, but he will look to build off this stat line Thursday night against Buffalo. He’s a solid bye-week replacement or streaming option who has a shot at finding the end zone.
