Jalen Tolbert is one small school receiver that is bringing loads of potential to the NFL. As a three-sport athlete in high school, he turned down offers from P5 schools to stay in his hometown of Mobile, Alabama.

Playing much of his career with subpar quarterback play, he was still able to land a spot on the 1st Team All-Sun Belt roster in back-to-back seasons, while also being named Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2021. In 2021 he was always at his best against his toughest competition, posting 3 of his 7 100+ yard games against Louisiana, Coastal Carolina, and Tennessee.

Tolbert brings a little bit of everything with his play style. He uses strong footwork and physicality to run through press coverages. His routes are smooth, his change of speed is deceptive, and his breaks are quick and sharp. He isn’t viewed as one of the fastest players in this year’s class, but his game speed truly represents the 4.4 40-yard dash times that he has clocked.

He has been a big-play threat his entire collegiate career, averaging 17.6 yards per catch, and has led his team in touchdown receptions in three consecutive seasons. His most defining trait however comes from his days playing in the outfield, consistently showing a knack for tracking and high-pointing deep balls downfield.
