Coming out of high school in 2018 Zamir “Zeus” White was a five-star running back prospect who has had nothing but an uphill battle since his senior year of high school. He tore his left ACL during his senior year, yet was still committed and held his scholarship to Georgia. After a hell of a rehab, the freshman at Georgia was ready. Once again though, right before the season started, he tore his right ACL. Once again the rehab process started for White.

Career Stats

You look at his stats and see over his three-year career you see a total of 382 carries, but you have to remember how Georgia uses their running backs. From as recent as D’Andre Swift to as late as Todd Gurley, Georgia has run a multi-back system as they prepare players for the NFL and not just run them into the ground. White’s era at Georgia has been no different as he shared the backfield with fellow prospect James Cook.

From what I’ve seen on White, I’ve been liking it a lot. He led the team in rushing in both 2020 and 2021, and scored 11 touchdowns in both of those seasons, with 2020 being the Covid season. His 5+ YPC is nothing to frown upon as he also averaged 3.66 yards after contact and forced 31 missed tackles over his career.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Running a 4.40 40-yard dash at the Combine opened my eyes to his size, I had to look at more tape. What I saw from White was patience, burst through the line, and fell forward with almost every tackle he takes. He runs laterally as he waits for his defenders to make the block for them, but if it isn’t there, he still manages to bounce it outside if needed. Once he goes through that line, you better tackle him straight up as his hips and shoulders are squared up to put a punishing hit on defenders.

A weakness that I saw, and the stats show it is he really didn’t do anything in the receiving game as he had 17 total receptions. I noticed this in his tape, but also that could be just a part of the Georgia offense as he was not an option on that play, but also James Cook was more of the pass-catcher on this team so I won’t knock him for that. Another weakness that I caught was his pass blocking. This could possibly be the biggest thing that I noticed that is going to have to be coached.

Now the Combine helped White, and the medicals on both ACLs should be good, but the ultimate truth to all of this is where he will be drafted. Day two draft capital shows all systems go, day three could be questionable, but if he goes early on day three, I have no worries at all. In my top running back landing spots, I pegged White to the Baltimore Ravens. Why? Well, it’s easy to project running backs to running back-needy teams. You may not think of the Ravens as a “need” for the running back position, but behind J.K. Dobbins is nothing much. I could also see the New Orleans Saints being a possible spot too.

Dynasty Football Outlook

In our 1QB Rookie ADP, we have seen White go on average at 2.09, and for those who are in 2QB/SF leagues, he drops one spot on average to 2.12. Either way, from what I see from where we are today, this is an absolute smash for me. This is a low-risk/ high reward pick for me.
