Evan Engram – Fantasy Football Outlook
The career path has been all over the place for Evan Engram from his rookie year to now. He is coming off his best season yet, earning 766 receiving yards. The starting tight end is the clear-cut number one option at this position. The targets were flowing to him all season, and this upcoming season is a mystery for him.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are an interesting team this year. Trevor Lawerence will have Calvin Ridley ready to go with ease. Additionally, the running back position is solid. Overall, the weapons on this team are crucial, but Engram will still be able to obtain the targets that are thrown at him.
Engram was franchise tagged at first, which led to a three-year extension that he earned. He was on a prove-it deal with this team, and he certainly proved his versatile play-making abilities. All things considered, expectations vary for Engram this season, to say the least.
Fantasy Football Outlook for 2023
Engram moving to Jacksonville rejuvenated his career, and this season may be another one in the books. In our 2023 PPR Fantasy Football Rankings, he is 97th overall ranked, and at the tight end spot, he is ninth-ranked. He can certainly maintain his top-10 upside with his production or possibly slighter lower based on the number of weapons on the team.
I am not saying Ridley or Christian Kirk will take away all the receiving yards from Engram. However, the red zone threat he is can save his opportunity. According to our Consistency Score, Engram was top five in the tight end spot at 3.56. This means was consistent as can be last season.
Tight ends are typically the guys on our fantasy teams that we just overlook if we aren’t drafting Travis Kelce or George Kittle. Engram was top 15 last season in median points per game. In our median point per game model, he earned a median of 9.45 fantasy points per game. Fantasy points and red zone targets won’t be an issue for Engram this season. The only issue that occurs is how the usage will be spread out. This issue can be a good problem or a horrible problem. Time will certainly tell.

In standard and PPR fantasy football leagues, he can be your best option if the top-tier guys, as stated above, are taken already. The waiver wire pick-up option is Engram each week if somehow he ends up on the chopping block if the targets fall due to the widespread share of targets.
Dynasty, this is where it can be the best option to have him on your team. In our dynasty rankings, he is 13th ranked. The three-year extension can rise his upside potential down the road. Coming off a prove-it deal to now, the production certainly rises or falls this season.
