Free agent running back, Ezekiel Elliott will sign with the New England Patriots. The veteran running back has agreed to a one-year $6 million dollar deal, Ian Rapoport has reported. Fantasy Football Outlook

After months of question marks and visits with different teams, the free agent running back has signed with the New England Patriots. Elliott will join what is typically known as, the most frustrating backfield to trust for fantasy football purposes. Rhamondre Stevenson has a hold on the lead role in this offense, as he is active in both the rushing and the passing attacks. Stevenson still has plenty of upside, considering the volume he’ll get. However, Elliott will certainly make things a bit frustrating for fantasy football managers.

Regardless of how bad or washed you think Elliott is, the bottom line is this… Elliott is a veteran running back who is a fantastic blocker. Additionally, he is an excellent goal line back who could very well get some 1st down work as well as become the primary goal line back. Personally, I don’t think rushing for 8 or more touchdowns is out of the question by any means.

Elliott has spent seven-straight NFL seasons with the Dallas Cowboys since being drafted back in 2016. Since then, he has finished as a Top-9 or higher fantasy running back in five of those seasons. Additionally, he has one season (2017) where he finished as the RB13 overall. Last year, he saw his worst fantasy performance of his career, finishing as the RB22 overall. Meanwhile, a fellow Cowboys running back finished as the RB8.

One of the biggest takeaways from this signing is that Tony Pollard could be in for a massive season this year.

All things considered, Elliott is looking like a massive value for the 2023 season. In our latest average draft position (ADP) data, Elliott has been going very late in fantasy drafts. Even if he is the 1b to Stevenson’s 1a, they’ll both still be valuable to the Patriots, and to your fantasy teams. It’s not crazy to think that Elliott could see double-digit touchdowns this year. He has put up four seasons so far

Dynasty Outlook

For dynasty fantasy football purposes, hopefully, you held onto Elliott throughout this whole process. If you didn’t he’s absolutely worth looking into as a one-year investment. While Stevenson will run this backfield and be the most valuable for fantasy football purposes, Elliott will certainly get his share of work. Even if he’s just the goal line back for one year. In our up-to-date dynasty rankings, he’s looking like a fantastic value as well.
