Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pickups - Week 4 (2024)

Last week we identified 5 players to pick up that meet our criteria. One player, in particular, had an amazing week and has moved from 33% rostered to 74% since our Week 3 waiver wire article. Ranger Suarez posted a complete game and his roster percentage has gone up significantly. Although there are other players on the list with increased roster percentages, Suarez’s increase was the most significant.

Stay with us as we identify players to target weekly for your roster to help you win a fantasy baseball championship. I’m not certain if we’ll see someone make a jump that big this week. If someone does, we will do our best to identify them.

Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pickups Week 4

As we move through the season our main goal is to identify players that don’t have a high percentage of ownership, particularly on FantasyPros. We will ensure that no player is rostered more than 40% in leagues to ensure that most of the guys listed are available. Additionally, we will make sure to have at least two players listed that are owned in 20% or less for deeper leagues. With that, let’s jump right into our top fantasy baseball waiver wire pickups for Week 4.

Best Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Adds For 12 Team Leagues

The following players are the best fantasy baseball waiver wire adds for 12-team leagues in Week 4. You can also target these players in additional league sizes. However, keep in mind that ownership percentages will vary. Let’s get right into the top waiver wire pickups for your fantasy baseball leagues as we head into Week 4.

LaMonte Wade Jr. (1B/OF – San Franscico Giants): 6%

Wade has been in the MLB since 2019. At age 30 I think it’s safe to say he isn’t going to be “breaking out”. However, this column is not always about the breakouts. In fantasy baseball, you need the guys who can fill up the stat sheet. Wade can do that while providing roster flexibility at first base and the outfield as well. As of now, he is 24th in the MLb for OPS% at .994. he is not an everyday player but has 49 plate appearances which is enough to roster in deeper leagues.

Amed Rosario (2B/SS/OF – Tampa Bay Rays): 33%

Rosario is seeing the field a lot for the Rays. He has 70 total plate appearances this season. His ability to play the middle infield and outfield bodes well for his playing time. On top of his flexibility, he has been hitting very well. He has a .343  batting average and has a 10% barrel rate. This is the highest of his career, he’s been in the MLB since 2017. He also provides some speed on the bases swiping 3 bags so far. He is worth a look if you have the space on your team.

Jameson Taillon (SP – Chicago Cubs): 12%

Taillon made his first start of the season on Saturday. In this outing, he allowed 1 run on 3 hits through 5 innings of work. He did not walk a single batter earning him a 0.60 WHIP for the game. He struck out 4 while earning himself a win. With the amount of injuries to pitchers this season Taillon is worth adding in deeper leagues. He plays behind a Cubs defense that is middle of the pack but has an offense that can put up runs. The Cubs are 5th in baseball for total runs this season. This is always good in fantasy when looking to secure points in the wins category.

Tyler Anderson (SP – Los Angeles Angels): 32%

The 34-year-old Anderson is off to a solid start this season. Anderson has pitched 24 innings in 4 games this year notching himself 2 wins. Currently, he has a 0.95 WHIP and a 1.42 ERA. His K% isn’t that high sitting at 14.29 but if you are looking at WHIP and ERA he could be worth an add if you are down a pitcher. The Angels are the best team statically in baseball right now on defense, which is nice for a starting pitcher.

Harrison Bader (OF – New York Mets): 4%

The Mets have been quite the surprise this season. After starting the year 0-5 they have managed to rattle off 8 wins in their last 10 games. Harrison Bader has been a solid contributor to this team during that stretch. Bader has a .307 batting average and has swiped 4 bags this year. He also has a .339 pretty solid OBP. It seems Bader is getting comfortable in his new home. He is someone to look at in deep leagues.

Jesse Winker (OF – Washington Nationals): 22%

Winker will close us out here for our best waiver wire pickups for Week 4. Winker is seeing a good amount of playing time with the Nationals. He is SLG .507 which is the highest of his career since 2021. Additionally, he has knocked in 8 runs and has swiped 2 bags. More yet, his OPS is .946 this season which is also the highest of his career.

Furthermore, the Brewers offense has the 2nd highest on-base percentage which will provide Winker more opportunities to knock runners in. Consider him when looking to add an Outfielder in semi-deep leagues.
