Fantasy Football Outlook – Breece Hall to the Jets

Breece Hall

New York Jets: Round 2 / Pick 36

I absolutely love this move for the Jets. Breece Hall revealed the Jets told him they were trying to trade into the first round to get him. For a team to trade up to make this move, and admit they wanted to go to round one for him, shows he will be the RB1 in New York.

I have been saying for years the Jets should take an early running back. I can recall wanting Dalvin Cook and Javonte Williams, but now the Jets get excellent value.

Fantasy Football Outlook

For redraft leagues, currently, Breece Hall is going 40 overall. I see this value rising quickly. The only problem that could be presented is Michael Carter. Mike Lafleur, the Jets offensive coordinator, uses rotational backs and gave fantasy value to Ty Johnson and Tevin Coleman last year.

Carter is injury prone, and the addition of Hall allows him to stay fresh. I can see a 60/40 split early on, but Hall is going to run away with this job. The Jets spent on their offensive line in free agency, and get a healthy Mekhi Becton back this season. The Jets haven’t had a 1,000-yard rusher since Chris Ivory in 2015 and I think Breece Hall will get it this season.

Dynasty Outlook

From a dynasty perspective, the Jets are a young up-and-coming team. The offensive line is comprised of two recent first-round picks in Becton and Alijah Vera-Tucker. Laken Tomlinson is coming off a pro bowl season, and George Fant was graded out as one of the best-left tackles last season.

Zach Wilson drastically improved at the tail end of last season. I expect Breece Hall to split early on with Michael Carter, but he will run away with this job and solidify himself as a first-round running back in 2023.

Hall is the rookie 1.01 in drafts and should be drafted as such. It should also be added, that the Jets added Jeremy Ruckert who was the best blocking tight end in this class.
