2022 NFL Draft Instant Reactions

Jeremy Ruckert

New York Jets: Round 3 / Pick 101

Jeremy Ruckert is a local New Yorker, and lifelong Jets fan, I love the pick for the story and the excitement from his family. Jets fans wanted this pick all offseason. Ruckert comes to a team where he will not have pressure to produce for the first year or two of his career and allows him to properly develop behind two veteran tight ends in Tyler Conklin and CJ Uzomah.

Ruckert was overshadowed at Ohio State behind Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson but is extremely talented, and with time, can develop as the top tight end in this class.

Fantasy Football Outlook

For redraft, Jeremy Ruckert should go undrafted in all formats. I just can’t see him having any fantasy value for the 2022 season. He is acting as the TE3 for the Jets, barring injuries. He is an excellent blocker, and likely will be used in goal-line situations, and could vulture a few touchdowns. He has a big frame, and a perfect red-zone target (6’5).

Dynasty Outlook

For dynasty, I think Ruckert is the perfect developmental tight end and can develop into a very good fantasy option. If you can be patient, I think it will pay off. The Jets signed Conklin and Uzomah to 3-year deals, but all of Joe Douglas’s deals have outs after a couple of seasons.

Ruckert has a big frame and is a great red-zone target. Also, it should be noted, that the Jets got production out of their tight end room last season and even had an offensive lineman scoring a red zone touchdown.
